I have this motherboard ECS MCP61PM-GM AM2 mATX Motherboard and an AMD Phenom 9500. I need to know what the best CPU that works with this motherboard is. Preferably within the $150 - $250 range.
IMO i wouldn't upgrade on that, I would save for a new rig if possible.

So I should just buy a new motherboard/CPU?
Yes, it would better to get a new mobo and cpu as far as performance and stuff goes, but this will obviously be the more expensive option. The problem with upgrading that mobo is you will be limited to AM2 socket processors. Example so you can get an estimate of price: AMD ~$220 AMD Phenom II X4 925 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819103656 GIGABYTE GA-MA770T-UD3P http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128392 Intel ~$314.98 Intel Core i5-750 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819115215 ASRock P55 Pro http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813157171
