so I installed my new 2500k, p8z68-v lx and 8gb kit of crucial ballistix sport the other day and had a few hiccups getting it going, It would boot into windows as far as showing the red and yellow orbs on the "Starting Windows" screen and then bluescreen
this was fixed by me reformatting my drive and reinstalling windows, all was well and I could play games. for some reason saints row 3 was bluescreening after a bit of gameplay but I thought that was just the game being unstable, but just now deus ex crashed which forced me to reboot
while I was rebooting I ran a windows memory test from the start options, which said a hardware error had been detected so I quit that half way through and swapped the sockets that my memory was in and rebooted, now I'm getting the same problem with windows not loading
what's the deal? is the ram faulty or has the hard drive failed due to the hard reset I had to do?
Test individual sticks, report back.
Boot with just one stick, then repeat with another etc.
just tried a memory diagnostic which this time had no problems, but windows still won't boot, I'll try what flubber said now

nope, didn't work, I'll try a bios reset
Test them for more then 2 seconds.

okay I somehow managed to fix it by changing the SATA mode from AHCI to IDE
I don't know how that fixed it but it's good enough for me
