Metro commuters awoke to lightning-filled skies, flooded roads and a mess of weather advisories Thursday morning. Much of the seven-county metro area is under a flash-flood warning until 6:30 p.m. Thursday, according to the National Weather Service. Two to 4 inches of rain fell across parts of the Twin Cities overnight, causing widespread flash-flooding on roads and spiking river levels dramatically. The Twin Cities rainfall record was unofficially broken before 11 a.m. The old record of 2.44 inches was set in 1954, according to the Minnesota Climatology Office; already by mid-morning today, 3.57 inches had fallen at the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport, according to the weather service.
hey about to evacuate today Flood
I'm flying in tomorrow. Will that be a problem?
I'm flying in tomorrow. Will that be a problem?
Quite possibly, yes. I would suggest that you defer your trip some time later.
Going unless they cancel the flight. It's for a wedding.
In that case, stay safe.
A buddy of mine and some of his friends were racing canoes down the streets. "When life gives you lemons, go fucking boating down mainstreet."
Going unless they cancel the flight. It's for a wedding.
When is this wedding?
my phone sent out a flash flood warning at midnight. the noise it made made my heart stop that shit is terrifying
I wonder how filthy flood waters are.

It's all fun in the sun here in the TC. At least we won't be in a drought for a while
my phone sent out a flash flood warning at midnight. the noise it made made my heart stop that shit is terrifying
What noise does it make? Isn't it like an air raid siren or something?
What noise does it make? Isn't it like an air raid siren or something?
I would think it would depend on the phone or app or whatever
I would think it would depend on the phone or app or whatever
Same sound as the EAS system for my phone.
What noise does it make? Isn't it like an air raid siren or something?
It sounds like this
I wonder how filthy flood waters are.
You have all of the usual stuff that's on the street surface and gutters (all matters of vehicle fluids, oil, gas, brake and tire dust, dead stuff, feces, urine, etc.) Then you have whatever the flood water has churned up (all sorts of nasty soil bacteria, sticks, branches, logs, rocks, dead stuff, fish, turtles, etc.) and if the local sewage utility starts overflowing, you have copious amounts of raw sewage mixed in which brings dangerous viruses, bacteria, etc. Basically flood water = cesspit of everything nature and human kind has to offer in one elixir of several million gallons of nastiness. It's not something you want to even stand in because one cut and you're fucked. After flood waters subside, you get another present in the form of hazardous flesh eating fungus and mold growing on everything. If you inhale some of those spores, again you're fucked.
my phone sent out a flash flood warning at midnight. the noise it made made my heart stop that shit is terrifying
Is it like one of these? If so, that'd be scary as shit.

update from where I work in Minnesota: The monsoon we got yesterday fucked everything up. The river is over the banks and the dam is wide open. Farmers are now growing lakes instead of crops.
Landed a bit ago. Only saw a few flooded roads but the river looked high. Also saw that hospital I think.
Good thing my house is on a hill
well, chances are your basement could still get flooded, that happened to me.
Damn, I wonder why he has so many emergency radios though?
He is the post apocalypse believer.
