After 33 days of testimony and two days of closing arguments, a jury of seven women and five men acquitted Casey Anthony of murdering her 2-year-old daughter Caylee in jusy 10 hours and 40 minutes of deliberation. She will be released as a free woman. Anthony, 25, held back tears as the verdict was read in the Orlando, Florida, courtroom. The jury, which ranged in ages from 32 to 65, handed down their decision at 2:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The defense spent four hours on Sunday poking holes in the state's case. "There is plenty of reasonable doubt," defense attorney Jose Baez told jurors. "You cannot convict her." They agreed, except on charges of providing false information to law enforcement officers, where they found Anthony guity. The high-profile trial began on May 24. While she remained mostly expressionless in the court room, Anthony broke down in tears on several occasions as her family was repeatedly called to the stand.
Source: http://www.people.com/people/article/0,,20507710,00.html
its because shes a cute white chick America loves white girls
What the fuck? Seriously?
I agree with their decision. They also used way too much emotional appeal in the court case. I don't like the chick, but I'm content with the legality of our justice system in this matter. The charges on her lying were deserved though. She's a lying bitch.
I can't wait to tune into Nancy Grace tonight.
What the fuck? Seriously?
I agree. She at least deserved Aggravated Child Abuse.
really
Misleading title. She was found guilty on four counts of lying to law enforcement and will be going to trial on Thursday over that. But the rest of the charges were all not guilty
if there truly were holes in the case against the defendant then I see no problem with this
this is what happens when a case gets so much publicity she got away with murder
Misleading title. She was found guilty on four counts of lying to law enforcement and will be going to trial on Thursday over that. But the rest of the charges were all not guilty
What should I change it to then? I didn't mean to make it misleading, I just used the news article's title.
Misleading title. She was found guilty on four counts of lying to law enforcement and will be going to trial on Thursday over that. But the rest of the charges were all not guilty
They aren't going to hold her for that, she's gonna be free in a matter of weeks.
nancy grace time bomb activated
Change it to "Casey Anthony Found Not Guilty of Murder" or something along those lines. She still was found guilty of a charge, and will be serving jail time for it
Well that was unexpected.
Bullshit. Then who did it?
I watched this live on HLN, and was absolutely stunned when they read not guilty for the biggest charges.
Bullshit. She should have at least been charged with child abuse not just lying to law enforcement. Hurr, I'm going to lie to law enforcement even though I supposedly didn't do shit.
Beat me to it. Just watched the verdict...jaw dropped. Kept waiting for them to say she was guilty on at LEAST aggravated child abuse. Ridiculous. Gonna get off with murdering her child with just a couple years jail time probably, although i'm not familiar with sentences for providing false information. However, I understand the verdict- guilty verdicts are supposed to mean that the prosecution proves without a shadow of a doubt the guilt of the defendant- which, in this case, I don't think they really came close to doing. The prosecution was lackluster, the defense pretty solid, and the verdict shows it.
Oj did it btw
They aren't going to hold her for that, she's gonna be free in a matter of weeks.
My local news channel keeps saying it is going to be a minimum of four years based on the charges, with the possibility of her time being slightly less than that because of the time she's spent already. We wont know for sure until Thursday morning
no, she got found innocent because it had so much publicity
no, she got found innocent because it had so much publicity
no
I am upset with the JURY!
Oh God, Nancy Grace is gonna go crazy.
That is fucking bullshit. FUCKING BULL SHIT
As much as I was expecting her to be guilty of the major charges, I'm willing to believe the jury made the decision they felt was right based on the information.
no, she got found innocent because it had so much publicity
No, it's probably because her defense did a pretty good job of creating reasonable doubt.
very surprising that she got off completely on the murder charges I watched the entire trial and was certain they'd find her guilty on second degree murder or aggravated manslaughter or felony murder
All I can expect is a divorce between her parents, mostly because of the whole mistress thing. Also, what are the odds of Casey's mom being charged for perjury? That's what I'm waiting on.
