A shame that GFWL is fucked.
Hope they fix that soon
A fine price for it. TBOGT is by far the best of the three.

GFWL or removing GFWL? since GFWL is gone in march.
Worth it.
Although prepare to feel pain after going back to GTA V's handling when you remind yourself of IV's.
Get it.
Though there was a deal that topped this a while back; You could get EVERY GTA title on Steam for a total of $9.
That's how I got GTA1, GTA2, GTA3, Vice City, San Andreas, IV, and both IV expansions. The deal was beautiful.

Shame the pack doesn't include GTA1 and 2 anymore. Luckily they're free.
I got that pack a while back. I think it was a bit more expensive than $9 but still a great bargain. Came with Bully, MP1/2/3, MNC and WMC too.
The Steam version of SA sucks though because even though it is possible (I've done it) it's harder to install SA-MP, the only real reason you'd go on SA nowadays IMHO.

I know that everyone has preferences and is entitled to an opinion, but GTA4s driving is absolutely atrocious.

Yes, and when it's gone, I'm pretty sure this game is unplayable. Might just be the multiplayer, only, but I think it might be the game in general.

Am I the only one that had no problems with driving in GTA IV?
I adore GTA 4's driving. It felt so...strategic.
Also, GTA 4 has crouch, which is a feature greatly missed in GTA 5.

It was a lot lot better than GTA V's horrible toy car glue wheel 90's arcade racing game handling.
It took a while to learn, and even longer to master though. Unlike GTA V, lacking that aspect due to the dumbing down.

I really don't think it should be a chore to move long distances in an open world game
driving was a boring terrible chore in gtaiv and you were forced to do it all the time
5/5 good deal.

I had no problems driving properly after a while but it still felt incredibly shit, the cars couldn't turn without sliding in a wall. It was absolutely horrible, no car behaves like that.

I don't know how GTA5 was dumbed down in any way. The cars felt really good and each car drove completely differently, the car mechanics were better than some actual racing games. It had more variety, also cars went generally a lot faster. It feels just so much smoother than GTA4s driving.
Driving in GTA4 was harder, but only due to the extremely shitty physics and driving mechanics. I don't know how you can call it "dumb it down". The cars slided way to much often hindering driving than actually making it enjoyable. In a game where you drive around most of the time, enjoyable driving is a must.
How was GTAIVs driving hard? it was really easy and it was so fun when you pulled off really amazing turns and such, like stuff you would see in action movies. I never had a problem with it, especially sliding all over the place or something, it was fine.

It feels really sluggish, honestly. Not every car should handle like a fully loaded truck.

It's not Mario Kart where you can go pedal to the metal through turns while holding down the handbrake which does all the work for you. You have to slow down and use the handbrake carefully while turning and whatnot to stay in control. Once you get used to it, the driving is great.
I know this argument is used very often but have you actually driven a car? No car behaves like that at all, perhaps if the game was set in the 50s. I know that realism might not be the forte of the GTA series but GTA4 took an heavy emphasis on realism compared to the previous games, but the driving isn't realistic at all. It doesn't really fit that well.
I'm not saying that it's bad to have such driving mechanics but I think a lot of people found it less enjoyable. Although I have to admit that it was really satisfying to drive very fast and proficent without crashing into things, because it took quite a lot of skill.

Ever driven a real car? You don't need to fuckin' use the handbrake to do turns.
Funny enough, if this deal happened in 3 days (06/11/2013) it would have been the same Midweek Madness deal from exactly last year, when they also introduced Brazilian payment methods - my first Steam purchase

try doing those manuevers in an actual car and you'll see that yeah they do sorta behave like that. not exactly, for sure, but you can't take a corner going any faster than 25mph without your car losing its shit
people wheeled around corners going 50-60mph in that game - of course there will be no grip.

you do if you don't plan on slowing down

Of course if you drive at intensily high speed, your car will slide and absolutely loose control. But the cars in GTA4 start sliding around even at low speed. Also it didn't really matter what car you had because all of them handled like crap. The only real difference between car was the amount of speed. I except that sports cars have a better handling than a SUVs or any other low tier car.
It's that was annoyed me the most.
It's a game about driving and shooting where both mechanics feel sub-par.
The checkpoint system (or lack there of) is atrocious.
It has Rockstar's trademark writing where every character other than the Protagonist is an annoying git.
The game is only fun when you go on rampages, which breaks what little tone the game has.
But I guess it has a bunch of fun minigames, good radio stations and some decent parody elements?

I had a blast with GTA4 on release but that was only because I never owned a GTA game before and I was really impressived by the body physics. Overall GTA4 is the weakest one in the whole series, although the episodes are rather nice.
The game has definitly some moments but overall it's just a bit flat. The story is pretty meh, some of the characters are pretty good though and the dialogues. The missions don't have variety and are boring. The game had this pseudo-realism feel to it, making it less awesome to go on rampages. The graphics are decent enough but everything is brown and grey. Everything is just medicore.
Although the radio stations were really good and the Nico was pretty cool. In retrospective, the game isn't really that amazing. But still worth it when you get a decent deal.
Drivings fuckin fine, play some god damn Gran Turismo, I can drive fine in both games but prefer GTA4s. Do races in GTAO and everyone's a shit ass driver anyway.

I'm going to sound stupid, but I loved GTA4's driving. It was so dismal that it made actual good driving feel like magic and an achievement.
I'm pretty sure all of us never liked how bikes handle in GTA IV.
It's completely awful.
Finally. Have been waiting for this to go on sale for a while.
