Hey People,
Note: I'm a complete rookie when it comes to this stuff.
Firstly, what parts of the computer get overclocked - Gfx card, cpu etc?
Secondly, what are the benefits of overclocking your computer? Just in games or with general speed whilst running other programs.
Thirdly, what are the dangers of overclocking, other than melting your computer.
Fourth, how do you to overclock your computer? and what parameters are there to think about to keep your computer safe?
Thanks.
1st: CPU, GPU, RAM are the main ones.
2nd: Over-clocking generally gives an improvement in performance of applications such as over-clocking your graphics card will generally yield higher FPS in a game. However if you push the card past a limit it will artifact and crash which I would catagorise as worse performance.
3rd: Overheating, reduced product life, instability, can void warranties.
Don't overclock if you have something high end like i7, or some fermi card. Overclock when they get outdated.

Would you think that it's worth overclocking this:
2048mb Ram
nVidia 9500gt
2.6ghz dual core processor
What dual core is it? Download CPU-Z and post a screenshot of the window.

Yeah, kinda bad for today's games

Yeaa, it runs Crysis on high - not very high, but not on full res or with AA. - and fails with newer games considering Crysis is 3 years old.

Specifically, what RAM do you have? (Give info such as the frequency, brand, and model)

Other than that i have no idea :P
Go to the STP tab, and take a screen shot for every memory slot

I only have the 2 slots on my motherboard, thus making slot 3 & 4 blank in CPU-Z.
You won't get anywhere with a set of cheap low performance RAM like the ones you currently have.
Ah alright then - They came with the computer which i got in early 07. so... :P
cheers
