Why do media outlets add -gate to stories, as if it actually makes sense?
Why do media outlets add -gate to stories, as if it actually makes sense?
Oh don't! I support Harlequins RFC. Trust me, we've had enough of gates! This is less of a response, more of continuing what they had been doing all along.

I still don't understand how DON'T BUY YOUR 10 YEAR OLD AN M-RATED GAME, IT'S THERE FOR A REASON is such a fucking difficult concept to grasp
I still don't understand how DON'T BUY YOUR 10 YEAR OLD AN M-RATED GAME, IT'S THERE FOR A REASON is such a fucking difficult concept to grasp
I don't understand why people think that someone playing a violent game would make them do violent things. I'm pretty sure children aren't that stupid and are able to distinguish between reality and fiction.
I don't understand the controversy surrounding this game. It doesn't look any more violent than games like Gears of War or anything else Epic has put out. Or even Painkiller, since it's actually made by People Can Fly. In fact, I think I'll reinstall Painkiller and fire stakes at crotches.

However, the hysteria surrounding this whole subject is the most troubling thing about it: right-wing 'journalists' are scaremongering parents into thinking their kids are going to go on killing sprees or sexual rampages if they play certain games; the liberal media aren't really doing enough yet to counter those arguments; and in the end it's industry, not the kids, who come out worst because games will be continually deionised and never allowed to evolve into something more socially acceptable like film.
I don't understand why people think that someone playing a violent game would make them do violent things. They have trouble discerning reality and are not able to make rational thoughts. But even without violent games, movies, shows, news, and books, they still can commit these acts simply as an emotional impulse. If they lack the self-control that keeps people from committing these acts when we are incredibly angry or aroused, then the body will act on those emotions in the way that best fulfills them.
On the other hand, being able to release your anger on virtual characters can prevent you from acting on it.
Video games don't make me angry but fox news does
I don't get why anyone listens to Fox.. or why they're still around.
None of which acknowledges the widely known fact that Germany does not allow any games to contain spilled blood or human gore.
This is not universally true, GTA 4 for example is uncut. And to that Fox guy, the thing that is much more likely to have happened: They censored Bulletstorm without even showing it to the "watchdogs" because they expected it to get no rating, thus avoiding the double reviewing of the game, uncensored and then later censored. (Which is commonly done. They just make it very toned down to be sure, instead of having to deal with it twice, example TF2) Unless there is an actual source on how it was handled this time, Fox is talking out of their asses on that one again. Violent content? In MY United States OF AMERICA? ITS AN OOOUUUTRAAAGE! /republican /unitooth /fascist /nazi
Who in his right mind takes Fox News seriously or even as fact anyways?
I was playing the Bulletstorm demo and I got the Gangbang bonus. I immediately shut off my xbox, went outside, called up a bunch of my friends, and all got into a black caddy. We drove around and finally found some girl and we all got out of the car and raped her. All because I saw a word on a screen. True story. What a coincidence. [editline]21st February 2011[/editline] I mean who doesn't kill and rape people after he sees slightly suggesting text on his TV screen?
This is obviously some marketing strategy by EA. Bulletstorm's whole thing is about being controversial. Getting uppity about this article is playing into their hands. 14 year old boys love playing games that their misled parents don't want them playing.
Ban video games, they cause violence! But if you even THINK about denying my right to own a fully automatic Assault Rifle...
I wish they could just review the content instead of acting like game developers want to cause rape.

In reality this game isn't any more violent than games like dead space 2 but I don't think there was any controversy there.
cant wait for the follow up to this article when DNF comes out "WE WERE WRONG- THIS IS THIS WORST GAME EVER"
Who in his right mind takes Fox News seriously or even as fact anyways?
sadly lots of people still do :( Mpstly stupid people who are lazy and dont want to be REALLY informed ( e.x doing a search for things and read both sides or studys ) they just want X is bad , next story.... weather... traffic report... from modern warfare 2, mass effect, medal of honor, and many other games that they never even place a good review about any of these games and only talk about how it is volent, is considered to ignore fox news as they are the worst reviewers out there.
No game has ever made me want to brutally murder a large group of people more than any faux news article...
them fox people really need to shut up.
:siren::foxnews:Terrorist website RockPaperShotgun promotes rape in video games! More at 10!:foxnews::siren:
Fox News is trying to turn our country into a fascist country when it comes to violence in media. They think EVERYONE should go by their beliefs.
