This better mean they'll launch their Windows 10 exclusives on Steam. I don't want to use the Microsoft Store.

Why not ?

It's not so much that I don't want to use the windows store for me
but I would like to see at least some sort of xbox functionality that can be used on the steam platform... and not force people to have them, because that sure as shit won't turn out well.
I was talking to a friend of mine who develops for these platforms, and they said that they probably won't actually deploy onto the windows store unless they can connect it to their actual PC (steam and gog all go into appgamescloud) platform, instead of, as the windows store currently has, actually chucks them into the xbox one pool,
Whatever happened to Steam on PS3? Wasn't Portal 2 the only game that worked with it?

In their announcement about not seeing Steam as competition they specifically said they would be releasing them on both Steam and the MS Store.
Why not ?
Because I don't want to have to use anything but Steamworks as a DRM. It's so convenient that it's not even a minor inconvenience, it allows me to use my username and I don't need to deal with external stores for DLC and all that nonsense.
If you use the Windows Store, it will most likely mean the game was designed with Windows 10's Xbox center in mind meaning you'll have to use gamertags, use funds tied to your Windows account to get anything and download through the Windows store.
Does this mean Gears of War UE on steam? I sure hope so
Awesome, they can start with Halo MCC.

Probably valve was the only company that bothered to enable steamplay support with a game in their library. It wasnt that steam was ever on ps3, just that valve allowed integration with PSN accounts in order to check if you had played certain games. It's still a thing (for portal 2) just seems nobody else was ever interested in adding support for it after valve initially started allowing it. Even valve themselves didn't add steamplay support for CS:GO on ps3.

That was already confirmed.
Windows10 with really good Steam integration and Halo5 Guardians on PC would literally make me cry.
I actually looked for some kind of windows 10 app for steam and there was one but it looked like a third party kinda 'meh' app. I'm looking for something a bit more than that.

Doing anything gaming-related through Microsoft is always a huge pain in the ass. I can't recall one time where everything went smoothly without a hitch.
Meanwhile on Steam you can get the game for free by playing other fucking games after filling out a singular form once and without having to pull out your phone every time you want to log in because of them being "dedicated to my safety."
I can't recall one time where everything went smoothly without a hitch.
I had to create a new gamertag in order to play GTA IV with two specific friends of mine. If either was already in a GTA IV lobby and I tried to join with my (at the time) gold-subbed XBL-first gamertag, it would. not. work no matter what. And if I was the host and invited either of those friends, they'd get the same error of being unable to join me.
New gamertag and it worked perfectly.
And then I filed a ticket with R* and they didn't even read it before sending me a canned reply that XBL requires gold subs to play online. Everything about my ticket clearly specified I was on PC, and by the time they responded I'd already found the shitting workaround for GFWL/R*'s retardation.
Praise be to Gaben
I hope they bring all of their first-party GFWL titles to Steam. Including Halo 2, if they aren't planning on re-releasing MCC on PC.

When? I never saw that

Though it doesn't necessarily mean it'll be on Steam, though it most likely will. It IS going to be on PC.
Unfortunately the Halo 2 for Vista isn't coming to Steam

Maybe we'll get Halo 2 for Win10 instead because we'd all prefer that anyway.

Halo 3
Even latter is sub-par

I've already given up hope and bought a 360.
