Call of Duty Ghosts for the Xbox One is always-online.
While this ban is a ‘temporary’ one, the user in question has confirmed though that he cannot play Call of Duty Ghosts offline, as according to him the game requires an internet connection to play. Just to note an important point in all of this, the user Moonlightswami has already installed the Xbox One ‘Day 1 patch’ which is thought to remove all previous DRM restrictions that Microsoft initially had in place.

He is providing an ongoing log via his Twitter account and adds that he cannot even access the system settings due to the ban. It goes without saying though that if he has already installed the Day One update,
So you guys remember that guy who got his Xbox One early from Target? Yeah, This is the same dude.
Oh dear
Shit storm incoming
He can't access system settings too? Did the ban just temporarily brick his xbox?
why do things just keep sounding worse with xbone
why do things just keep sounding worse with xbone
it kinda fluctuates
why do things just keep sounding worse with xbone
Because Microsoft is going downhill.

Well how it worked with 360 was you just couldn't get online. You could still play the thing.
Also I just noticed that this dude started to be really quiet after he posted all of this. I kinda suspect Mircosoft told him to keep quiet in order to get unbanned after launch.
Even though I don't like how much the ban can control, it makes sense to temp. brick his xbox one if he has it before release.

Bricking peoples xbox's would also be a strong deterrent to people hacking them. If you get banned now for having a modded xbone, thats $500 down the drain. Not that I agree with it but modded 360's were running rampant last generation and they might wanna crack down.
Perhaps (and this is wild speculation) the xbox one knows its release date. In the same way that pretty much all recent video games do to prevent you playing them if you get it a day or two early.
This isn't much different to that situation where some guy got banned from xbox live for releasing videos of GTA V prior to its release.
why do things just keep sounding worse with xbone
Because there are a lot of faults with the XBone and Microsoft have been doing an abysmal job at explaining it's good points, which it does have.

They also offered him attendance at the Xbox One Launch event.

Because you are shown every single thing about the Xbox One in a purposefully biased light attempting to paint every single thing as "bad".
Remember the good old days when games were installed from the cd/dvd and nothing was tied to the internet except for when you clicked on the multiplayer menu and actually joined a server
You need to tap into microsoft's supercomputers to simulate that fish ai

I wouldn't be surprised honestly, I'd be pretty pissed if people started playing a new console early before its release

game companies and manufacturers hate stores breaking street date

god forbid you use rational thought in a conversation about the One though, if it has to do with the One it's obviously another reason it's the second coming of Lucifer himself
as the ambassador of hating call of duty (who also happens to not fancy the xbone much) this makes me happy seeing them fuck up that way less people will be inclined to buy it on that system.
Dark age of gaming begone!!!!
The best part is that offline play is a selling point on the back of the PS4 version.

There never was a dark age of gaming, other than 1983/4. Popular game is made, it becomes the fad. People buy into the newest fad, while devs make crappy knockoffs of this trend. Then fad dies off because something else is taking it's place.
Literally every generation has that.

The xbox division of Microsoft... We do not speak of them.

Theoretically speaking, say this was for PC, couldn't you disable your internet connection and set your system time to the release date? Wouldn't work for games that check online but you know...
Glad i'm getting the PS4 tbh, it is the lesser of two evil's no matter what anyone say's at this rate.
who even plays call of duty offline
I'll never support always online gaming, BUT if any game were to be always online, Call of Duty would probably be the least worst to choose from.
who even plays call of duty offline
Both singleplayer and multiplayer are equally shit with C0D, so I guess people with shitty internet.
who even plays call of duty offline
I knew someone that bought CoD games for Wii and only played the campaign because their Wii wasn't connected to the internet.
who even plays call of duty offline
I do, i frequently play against bots in Blops 2 or play zombies while my UTP cable is in my TV receiver.
@yosp already said that early PS4 useres can go online without getting banned. Why is this so hard to understand? Banning someone who got their device early looks poorly on the company.
[editline]11th November 2013[/editline]
Hell, he even posted a video of Francis getting his device early on twitter:
