Chrome has been doing this for ages, I installed it at Chrome 4 and now I'm at 16. It still doesn't feel right that IE is doing this though.
At least IE is now somewhat more up to par with modern web browsers.
Good move, good move.
People still using old versions of IE are a just a security risk. This is a good thing.
True, I guess this will be done though windows updates though. Thing that annoys me that if it is then I will be updating / downloading stuff for a update I don't want or need.
Only those Windows users with automatic updates turned on will be enrolled in the programme.
Oh, good. I have Windows Update turned the fuck off, so I won't have my internet clogged up with updates to a shitty browser I don't use. Honestly I don't fathom how people can stand to use IE. There's a myriad of other browsers out there, every single one of which is miles better than IE, and they're all free and easy to install. Choose one already.
So, the OS updates itself constantly forcing me to reboot, and now IE is gonna update itself too, atleast its opt-out Worst is that I still havent managed to properly disable Windows Update, it still does shit to me

First thing I do when installing Windows, before it ever gets an internet connection for the first time, is nuke Windows Update. I recommend you do the same, you don't need all those pointless updates if you're remotely internet smart.
IE has gotten quite better honestly I'll always prefer Opera, but IE6 and IE9 is night and day
It's still awful. It doesn't follow many commonplace internet standards, it's bloated, and it manages to use more ram than Firefox, despite the latter having a memory leak the size of Oklahoma. It may be less shit than IE6, but it's still shit, still only fit for obtaining a different, better browser.
How exactly is Windows Update pointless? What about major security hole fixes?
How exactly is Windows Update pointless? What about major security hole fixes?
Security hole fixes? Really? They break more than they fix, they make your machine restart incessantly, they clog up your internet, and they don't do anything useful. You don't need them, the only people who do are the people too computer illiterate to find the start button. I've been running updateless since XP's heyday and I've never had any malware issues I couldn't directly backtrace to a derp download I made, and of those, last one was in...2005? And I'm by no means 'leet'. It doesn't take much smarts to keep a Windows machine malware free without resorting to Windows Update. Oh, and yes, I have installed some updates. I have no choice if I want to play GTA IV, for some braindead reason SP1 is required or it won't even install. God only knows why...God damn it Rockstar, why must such a fun game require such a bloated update that breaks so much useful stuff on my machine every time I install it?!
You're dumb.
I'm dumb because I'm able to keep my computer secure and malware free without indundating windows with gigabytes upon gigabytes of half-broken updates that don't do me any good and which only contribute to bloating an already bloated as fuck OS? Riiiiiiight.
Watch out guys, we have an internet badass here.

I'm not gonna debate it with you guys. You're more than welcome to continue to bloat up your Windows folder and run your internet meters up on things that do absolutely fucking nothing. Me? I'll just be laughing and enjoying Windows installs that actually work.
Assholes. I'm running IE 6 for a damn reason.
It's still awful. IE9 uses less memory than FF8.1 and crashes less, it just doesn't support a huge range of things because microsoft doesn't see them as approved, much of css3 and html5 is still in testing stages and IE9's canvas support is better than FF and chromes (at times, it depends how it's handled). IE9 is actually a really good fucking browser and is the only one on the market which is fully hardware accelerated. IE6 is indeed outdated and it's users need to be purged, but don't bash IE9 and accuse it of shit it doesn't deserve. Wait, People still use IE, I am surprised
Updates for what? Oh you mean THAT old thing.

I request sources on this "they break more than they fix" rubbish, in particular. edit:
You are truly dumb.
wow, I just realised this post is pretty similar to mine. not sure how I missed that.
herp derp windows update is a plague
Did you have fun with .NET Framework while the rest of us could just get on with our computing? You know, because Windows Update sorted all that out for us before we even knew we needed it.
Firefox is now considered the worst of the big three browsers Oh, sad irony!
