My friend (chick) invited me over soon for a movie day, and she's never seen a scary movie, and I'm not sure what to suggest, FP. What's the scariest movies you've seen?
Event Horizon was pretty pants shitty, if you got netflix then you can stream it.
The Strangers was pretty scary. Especially if you're in an isolated spot.
Also (Incoming shitstorm) in my opinion, Paranormal activity was a fairly scary movie. People go around saying "Yeah it's not scary" but they were the ones who saw it in the cinema with a million screaming girls. Watching it home on a tv with the lights off is horrifying.
I am going to see the 2nd one on my new ipod touch when it comes out in the dark woods/forest
I dunno....Bug?

Nah, it was scarier with the screaming Girls. It was scary beacause they screamed, but it wasn't memorable beyond that.
I always watch The Thing. Not scary, but fun as hell to watch.
I suppose the first one and second.
Oh, sorry, I recommend The Thing. It's a classic.
EDIT: Damn ninjas
Ok, so, let me get this straight . . .
She's NEVER seen a scary film?
And so far we've got 2 ok movies and one genuinely scary one?
Ok.
Here are a few of the scariest. Look them up on any top ten, and these are there:
The Thing (mentioned)
The Shining (Kubrick's movie, not the shit mini-series)
The Exorcist (this mother fucker won an Academy Award).
Poltergeist
Se7en (more of a thriller, but there is one scene that will make you shit your pants).
6th Sense was pretty scary.
Blair Witch Project (great if you are a camper or live in a rural area).
Silence of the Lambs (again, a triller/mystery, but effing good).
The Shining. That is the scariest film I've seen, admittedly I've not seen many, but fucking christ man. The book is also really good if you want to check it out afterwards.
She might Enjoy Paranormal Activity, I saw it with a girl and she was terrified, I found it quite boring to be honest.
I've heard the blair witch project is scary. Still need to watch it myself
Well fuck, I nearly shat my pants watching The Blair Witch Project. Paranormal Activity wasn't scary at all imo
Watch the first Alien
Suspenseful
Try The Poughkeepsie tapes, one of the few horror films that creeped me out. Depending on how you see it, you might call it a disturbing mockumentary, or a plain barf-bag movie. But either way it's still pretty good.

I watched the Strangers at my friends house in the pitch black, the lounge had a huge glass door leading to the garden. After the film finished, a guy and his girlfriend went home. About an hour something started tapping on all the windows outside. We ended up opening the curtains to the patio door and turned the light on.
The girlfriend lay on the floor outside with fake blood on her face with some tape over her mouth, while the boyfriend stood above her facing us with a baseball bat and one of those creepy, expressionless masks on. It was a mixture of the Strangers and the beginning scene of Scream. We proceeded to freak the fuck out
I was in the exact same situation as you; Girl who had never seen a scary movie invited me over to watch one.
We watched The Strangers, and it scared the shit out of her. It's a fantastic movie.

I automatically like everything you say because you're avatar has that creepy guy from Twin Peaks: "I am the aaarrrm."
John Carpenter's The Thing.
Shit is intense bro
If she's never seen a scary movie, she wont know what to expect, right?
Watch a porno with her, and tell her at scary movies are like that .
do it.
In all seriousness, Maybe [REC] if you can find the decent spanish one, with subtitles. Don't watch the fucking awful American remake.
or 28 days later, 'cause it's scary but has a nice plot through it, typical guy saving the girl stuff.
A nightmare on Elm street
the shining
not a good "hanging out with a girl and want to watch a movie" movie, but its a really good movie.
for your situation, id say...nightmare on elm street, the original halloween, or scream. maybe paranormal activity if you want her to cuddle up close.
the blair witch project

That movie really creeps me out because I was born in Poughkeepsie :tinfoil:

judge people by the content of their posts!
I dream of a world where my kids will be not judged on the picture of their avatar, But by the content of their posts.

Also does anyone else find old scary movies from like 80's - early 90's not scary in the slightest?
[editline]24th October 2010[/editline]
I am more freaked out by new horror films. Even know they arn't as good, they are more suspenseful.
i sorta agree. foley has come a long way in the past 30 years, and good sound effects are what really make the atmosphere

I think I'm going to bring Se7en, since I own it on DVD and it's not way too scary for her. I'll move up to stuff like Paranormal Activity and The Shining and stuff like that later.
(She's easily scared, Paranormal Activity will scare her.)
