I lent a Fostex multi track recorder to my friend David, all the recording was done by himself on the Fostex and I did the mastering. I'm new to it so any C&C would be appreciated.
I know the Vocals are clipped in parts but theres nothing I can do to really fix it. I know it isn't great but it's a learning experience for us both.

There are a few more, I've got the 3rd finished but not the second, so when I've finished the second I'll post the next two.
Here's a quick remaster in Garageband, any better?

C&C, anyone?
Do you have the un-mastered track for comparison?
Why does the vocals seem so.. out of the mix?
Sounds waaaay too live. Vocals need some kind of reverb. Overall volume is too low too
The vocals sounded funny with reverb. I understand the vocals aren't perfect but I don't really know what to do.
I'll go back to it and have another go, and il make another account for the unmastered, don't want to spam my feed.

It was all recorded with a shure SM58 I lent him too, an old one at that.
Well I presume he used it to record the guitar, he might not have done though.

FUCK. I think I'm gonna have to start again, Logic has completely fucked up.
Anyone got any tips? :(
Uploaded more tracks -
Vocals sound better on the new mix definitely. Did you do some sort of Pan on the vocals around 28-31? It sounds strange.
Edit:
The guitar sounded much more full in the first mix VS. the GB mix
Logic was being funny and my ear felt strange this morning.
Not entirely sure what happened with the track and the panning business.
Vocals in the first song need to be compressed, levels are all over the place. Try double compressing them (not sure how this will look in garageband, but in Pro Tools it's basically 2 compressor plug ins, one straight after the other. Gives you a really steady vocal level).
Also double track the guitars for a bigger sound, they sound kind of... wimpy? I don't know if that's the right word, but jut not very powerful.
Also I noticed towards the end of the first track the vocals could really do with some filtering since they sounded really bassy, put on a high pass filter and play about from 150Hz to 300Hz for the best sound.
The guitars are double tracked :(
Pretty sure I compressed the vocals, I'll try doing what you suggested.
Try doubletracking the guitar with one of the track having a really slight delay, both tracks hardpanned (so one is right and one is left).
Here's a track I have done this with

It gives it a bigger sound like mentioned, something you should try and work with is equalizing the guitars so that say the guitar to your left has a boost in the mid sections of the equalizer (600-2000), and the other guitar can have a boost around the mid-high range (1000-3000). Something you guys lack is drums though, if you can tell me what bpm your song is made in and also give me master tracks (guitar track, bass track, vocal track, whatever other tracks you have in each song) I can try drum to them and see if I can come up with somethign cool
