I just recently upgraded from a stock Asus Essentio CM5571 motherboard and processor to a Gigabyte 990 FXA UD3 and an AMD 8350 Vishera and my sound is not working. The BIOS had sound enabled, everything is plugged in right. I have done much troubleshooting and research and can't find answers.
Make sure the sound output device is set to the onboard sound, sometimes it gets set to the HDMI output of the graphics card.

It is. I have also uninstalled all sound drivers and restarted to get default drivers, it also did not work.
Maybe the drivers are special that the windows OS can't locate. Try popping in the CD that came with your Mobo and installing the drivers from there.
