I just got money to buy a new monitor and I'm a bit conflicted. I have two options, I could either go for one really nice monitor or buy one decent monitor then two of the same later for an Eyefinity/Nvidia Surround setup when I upgrade video cards. I live in the US and my budget right now is $200, but I can go a little over (If I'm gonna go tri-monitor I'm only buying one now anyway so the budget is the same).
Requirements for single monitor:
- 1080p
- At least 22"
- Contrast Ratio of 50,000:1 or better
- 5ms or better
Requirements for Triple Monitor:
- 1680x1050 or better (1080p preferably)
- 19" to 23" (21.5" or 22" preferably)
- Typical 1,000:1 contrast ratio or better (10,000:1 or better preferably)
- 5ms or better
So Facepunch, which setup should I go for and what monitors would you suggest for either? So far for triple monitor I'm looking at three of these http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824236051 and for single, one of these http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824236075.
I would highly recommend the Asus monitors you picked out. I have the 23-inch version of that first monitor you picked out, my friend has the same two monitors I have, and my other friend has the 23-inch version of that other monitor you picked out. We've all been surprisingly pleased with the quality of the Asus monitors.
Additionally, even though they're the cheapest monitors, they actually have decent color accuracy/quality. Although this review is about the dell monitor, they compare it to the 24-inch Asus monitor on the other pages. I got LG 22" W2261V, it's pretty much what you ask for, but contrast is only 1:20,000, 1080p and 2ms. I really like it.
It's real cheap too
May I suggest http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824001376&cm_re=samsung_lcd_monitor-_-24-001-376-_-Product ?

This is a little over your budget, but it's an IPS panel. The response time may be 8ms, but it has a spectacular viewing angle range with amazing color reproduction.

That actually looks really nice for single monitor.

Thanks, I've heard a lot of good about Asus's monitors which is why I chose the ones in the OP.

That sounds about perfect for a triple monitor setup, I tried googling it but couldn't get any shopping results :/

Holy shit. I'm probably going to go with three of these, not sure how I didn't come across it earlier. Thanks.

I'm not concerned about viewing angles (the monitor would always be directly in front of me or at least close to it), but I'm liking the color reproduction. However it's a little pricey for me, not that I won't consider it.
Thanks everyone. I'll talk this over with a friend of mine tomorrow with all these monitors in mind. You guys have been a huge help.
Yep I'd choose the samsungs they are very good monitors, I have a small 18' monitor but I still think its great.
