SEATTLE - —
The former head of the Seattle FBI office is supporting a state initiative that would legalize marijuana.
Charles Mandigo announced his endorsement of Initiative 502 in a statement issued Monday by backers of the measure. He is joined by former U.S. Attorneys for Western Washington John McKay and Kate Pflaumer in speaking out for the initiative. If passed by voters it would legalize the sale of marijuana to adults 21 and older.
Mandigo says legalization would free law enforcement to pursue more worthwhile aims.
Supporters of the legalization initiative plan to submit it to the secretary of state in December.
Finally, someone without their head up their ass
Here's hoping it passes. We, as a nation, can't afford to be policing things like this.
I really don't see it passing, unfortunately. Too many people in the U.S still think marijuana is as bad as coke or heroin.

It's not the USA, it's Washington.
Washington already has Medical Cannabis Dispensaries, doesn't it?
It could pass, but the Federal government will still harass and arrest people who use it.
The west coast in general seems pretty lax with marijuana, so this might actually have a shot. I really hope this passes.
Hopefully they'll be passing more than just this bill.
Not likely to happen, unfortunately. Most proposed initiatives for legalizing marijuana here have fallen flat. I wouldn't hold my breath on this one.

I guess you could say the likelihood of this bill passing is hazy.

The chances of this bill passing are probably going to go up in smoke.
I wouldn't really be all that surprised if it passes here.
You don't know how many god-damn petitions for legalizing marijuana I've been offered to do up at my community college. To be frank they get annoying after the sixth one. :v:
Not to mention, Washington seems to be fairly lax in this regard, compared to a lot of other states in the US.
Just goes to show how powerful brainwashing is and propaganda to the general American public
Falsified facts reverberating even decades later

You can thank Republicans. They're stuck in the 20th century.

More like the 19th century.
Nice.
I hope one day this will be nationwide.
Finally, some sense from a higher up.
I love my state
If this passes I'm moving to Washington.
I've visited there, Seattle is a fucking amazing city.

Here in Seattle possession of Marijuana is considered an infraction (on par with a small ticket) except that the DA will throw out every possession case. Thus pretty much making it legal.
You should a came to hempfest. Blatant smoking anywhere. Hitting a 6 footer infront of police while they wave you on or some of them even cheer you on.
What to expect? They border B.C.

Why did you have to say that?
I don't have the money to move, dammit.
I live in the eastern part of Washington, AKA, the super-conservative part. People over here are gonna have a fit.
It's a good thing to hear, Seattle is among my top 3 choices for places to move after school
Meanwhile, it's still banned in Australia :(
So is this the washington'ers united thread or something?!
On the topic of hempfest... I went this year. This is the only picture I snapped. Look at the guy on the bench :V:
