• My Mom lost the diamond on her wedding ring and now she's depressed

First of all, my mom has always been a joyful person. Even in a couple of family conflicts she's always maintained a pleasant spirit. But today, I have never seen here this down. After coming home from the supermarket to get some groceries and bringing them inside, my mom went to go watch some TV, and that's when she noticed the diamond was gone. She came down panicking asking if me and my older bro can help her find it. At a heartbeat, we started to search for it. We looked all over the house, the backyard, the front yard, the van, and even still we couldn't find it. My mom then had to accept the fact that she probably lost it at the supermarket or something. Now I know it's not as big as something like cancer, but to her it is. The diamond on that ring ALONE is worth $2,000 dollars, so some worker is gonna end up sweeping the thing up, or he/she might find it and keep it to him/herself. It sucks, because the ring was given to her the day my dad told her he truly, truly loved her, and now a big portion of what it's worth is now gone. Another thing is, she has no idea how she's gonna tell my dad what happened, so she's in a big wreck. She hasn't been this sad since my grandmother's funeral. And PLEASE no dumb responses like "make a thread about it". She's in a huge mess and I want to make her happy again. I just hate seeing her like this. She's trying to shake this whole thing off but it isn't working out for her. The least I can ask you guys is to help me find a way to cheer her up. And PLEASE no dumb responses like "make a thread about it". We tried everything we could to find it. Also, if this is in the wrong forum, would a mod kindly move it to the right place? I just want to be sure.
How the hell does a diamond come off of a diamond ring?
Make a thread about it ? :s
make a thread about it god damn ninjas But seriously that sucks, why dont you go back down the supermarket and look?
She'll get over it
And this is exactly the reason why I think diamond rings are a dumb as fuck idea. Lab-grown HTHP > all.
How the hell does a diamond come off of a diamond ring?
it comes loose and falls off
Get her a new one. :buddy:

Merge please.
it comes loose and falls off
If a $2000 diamond comes loose whoever made that ring sucks
yes, usually. but shit happens and not all ring designs are the same
All materials get worn out over time, those prongs probably just got too warn and gave way. Would like to know how old the ring is.
get a fake replica made and say you have found it, who will ever know?

When I was very very young the same happened to my mum. She was sad, yes, and my older brother who was about 5 vowed that he would spend ages looking for it. He actually fucking found it.
Stick a gummy bear on the ring.
1. Get job or get out $2000 in savings. 2. Buy $2000 diamond. 3. Give diamond to mother. 4. ???? 5. Profit.

Profit.
Thats a net gain of -2000 $ SUPAH PROFIT Also, if a lot of what the ring meant is supposedly gone, I mean, it meant the love of dad to mom, so in an ideal case the dimond itself matters less than the love of your dad to your mom
Money is not love, right? (sucks to loose something that valuable though)

[editline]23rd April 2011[/editline]
it comes loose and falls off
If a 2 thousand dollar diamond ring comes off, it isn't worth 2k.
Describe it to her in a belittling way. Its just a mass of carbon pulled out of the ground by African slave children anyway.
I understand the ring is important but honestly these things happen and she needs to realize life will go on. It's not like the ring defines her marriage in any way, shape, or form. She's still married. It's not like she did it on purpose anyways so unless your dad is a relentlessly abusive fuck I don't see why it'd be hard to tell him.
Wow kids these days can't do anything on their own they just "ask the internet for help"
A diamond fell off a 2k ring? Whoever fucking made that ring should be shot. If it has a warranty (it most likely does, but for 2k, don't count on it) tell her to take it to the original jeweler to get it repaired, and or replaced.
Wow kids these days can't do anything on their own they just "ask the internet for help"
Yea man, whatever happened to the days when you could pray to Lord Zeus and die at 25?
The diamond on that ring ALONE is worth $2,000 dollars
Lol, should have invested money more wisely.
She'll get over it
Bullshit. The only way she'd get over something as important as a wedding ring is if she were divorced for at least a year or so. Wedding rings symbolize a bond that is hoped to last the rest of both lovers' lives.
Wedding rings symbolize a bond that is hoped to last the rest of both lovers' lives.
wedding rings symbolize how much money a couple is willing to spend on hollow bullshit
