BALTIMORE — A teen allegedly stole items from the Explorer program to pose as a police officer. Investigators think former Explorer Walter Oliver, 18, stole from police lockers while working with cops to learn about their careers, ABC 2 reported. Oliver later took a job at a security company, where a video surfaced that appeared to show him posing as an officer — and brandishing a firearm. In the video, Oliver was "wearing not only a Baltimore City Police badge, but in possession of a handgun... what we believe was a handgun," Police spokesman Anthony Guglielmi said. A resulting SWAT raid of Oliver's home turned over badges, patches, uniforms, and strobe lights, Guglielmi said, adding that the stash was "very concerning." Oliver was immediately arrested and charged with impersonation of a police officer. Police said such incidents in the Explorer program are a rare occurence. "This is certainly an anomaly with this program and we certainly wouldn't want this particular incident to cast any kind of negative influence on the program itself," Balitmore County Police Detective Cathy Batton said. "This is an excellent group of children." It's alleged that Oliver stole a badge from a pregnant officer after he watched her put in her purse, according to reports. Oliver "made some very poor decisions that now, unfortunately, he'll never be able to be a police officer, federal law enforcement, state or local, anywhere in the country," Guglielmi said.
Source W/Video There is always someone who fucks up and the rest of us have to pay for it.
The Explorer program is a great opportunity for kids to learn more about interesting career fields. What a dick.
What a fucking moron. I was gonna join the Explorer program but got in a car wreck the day of the first meeting.
Really, pose as a officer you don't even know the background of?
The very untalented Mr Ripley.
