Hi everyone, I just purchased all new parts and built my new computer.
Specs:
AMD Phenom II x4 965 3.4ghz black edition
4 gigs ddr3 1333 1066 gskill ripjaws ram
AMD 870-G45 AM3 Motherboard
320 GB SATA HDD
ATI Radeon HD 5770 (GIGABYTE OC edition, 13% overclocked)
Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit
I am using this computer in conjuction with a CRT monitor. It's a semi-old dell, non flat screen, and I've also tried with an IBM flatscreen one, with the same issue.
My issue is this: When I move an application to the far edge of my screen, and move it back and forth, I notice on the opposing side of the screen, that the edge of the screen is warping in and out in correspondence to me moving the window around. It's subtle with the dell, but with the IBM i would actually have to recorrect the black edges and stretch it back to place with the monitor's buttons.
I have installed my graphics drivers.
it sounds a little like your graphics card is fucking up. So(this will sound stupid) open up the case and make sure that you have your graphics card plugged in entirely. Then, once that is done, check back make sure you have the latest drivers. Then, if all else fails; send it back.
Try an LCD. Don't switch to one though, CRTs are the shit bro

Okay.... I took the card out, and put it back in, reassuring that it was properly inserted, and it was, and is. Still happening though. My drivers are up to date.

I prefer LCD. For right now, CRT is all I have, though.
CRT's.. YUKKY, best lcd i can recommend you are the Dell u2410 (1920x1200) or the Dell u2311 (1290x1080), both are excellent screens, and you can view them from any angle without the color going all funny
crt > lcd :colbert:
Adjust your CRT's refresh rate.
My CRT, depending on resolution, requres me to alter the refresh rate in order to get rid of various artifacts. My CRT is an old one though, at least 8 years old.
For a solid picture you need at least 72hz, 75 would be better, 85 would be ideal. Some CRTs lose the ability to do higher rates as they age. My CRT will only do 60hz at 1280x1024 or higher for example.
I love the people that sit around FP with 10 year old Dell CRTs touting their superiority.
yes it is a better technology but not your rounded tube 3 inch bezel dying crt.

it's the fags bragging 16 inchers that suck. once you're 19+ inches you're all good if you've got something with a trinitron/etc. tube
20" dell beauty. Man I wish I still could pay for the power and cooling for that things.
1900x1600 was just damn sexy.

Opinions are pointless without support.
Im just going to go ahead and throw this out here...
NEVER EVER NEVER EVER EVER EVER NEVER EVER NEVER attempt to perform maintenance on a CRT that involves opening up the case without training! The tubes require extremely high voltage circuits, with capacitors that hold on to said high voltages even after the screen is unplugged

I love my 10 year old Dell CRT :(
Also CRTs make great secondary monitors - give it a black wallpaper and it emits pretty much no light, so no need to turn it on and off while gaming (inb4 power consumption)
Yes I used my old monitor as a second screen, pretty cool stuff. Then we gave my old computer to Goodwill. :frown: No more monitor...
I do miss my Sony 24" widescreen CRT to some extend, what I don't miss is the headaches, and the odd artifact you get when you put a really bright object next to a dark side, with a line on it and it sort of bends, and the expensive electric bills
