The Soccer Association of Midlake, Ontario, however, has taken this idea one step further, and have completely removed the ball from all youth soccer games and practices.
This is retarded.
...so how do they play? [editline]5th September 2013[/editline]
"We want our children to grow up learning that sport is not about competition, rather it's about using your imagination. If you imagine you're good at soccer, then, you are."
what whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat
...so how do they play?

...so how do they play?

"We want our children to grow up learning that sport is not about competition, rather it's about using your imagination. If you imagine you're good at soccer, then, you are."
There you see it. Imagination. IMAAAAAAAAGINATION. I would post the image from Spongebob but I would rather not get banned.
Well, looks like Canada's hopes for winning international football matches was killed. How do you even play football without a ball? Even philosophers football had a football in it. Oh wait it's satire.
...are we sure this isn't an onion article?
Yeah this totally isn't going to make the shock of entering the 'real world' much worse. It's already bad for kids who are continuously told they're good at everything they ever do.
"We want our children to grow up learning that sport is not about competition, rather it's about using your imagination. If you imagine you're good at soccer, then, you are."
The amazing upbringing ideal which gives us such miracles as socially entitled "nice guys", unemployable humane graduates who feel entitled to a well paid job, and all the other amazing people who can't understand basic working of this world and struggle to survive in it.
Why can´t we utilize this great strategy in other parts on life? I will just go to the bank and tell them that I am rich which is why they should give me 1 million and 1 euro. If they decline I will tell them to use their imagination!
I can't wait until they remove the ball from baseball, too. Everybody will get super good and start hitting home runs all the time. What's not to like?
didnt south park do an episode like this?
this is satire it has to be i refuse to believe this is an actual thing
If you imagine you're good at soccer, then, you are.
No, that's not how life works.
Ref you f*$&ing blind didn't you see the ball go in
That was good laugh.
hey guys it's a joke and it's not real, no need to get so mad also I recall reading something that said that kids don't even mind losing, it's more the parents.
lets get rid of every car so no accidents happen hey if people imagine they can drive they can drive right?
this is satire it has to be i refuse to believe this is an actual thing
It is.
This Is That is a current affairs program that doesn't just talk about the issues, it fabricates them. Nothing is off limits--politics, business, culture, justice, science, religion--if it is relevant to Canadians, we'll find out the "This" and the "That" of the story. Each week, hosts Pat Kelly and Peter Oldring introduce you to the voices and stories that give this country character in this 100% improvised, satirical send-up of public radio.

Hilariously depressing.
i cant stop laughing
It is.
Oh thank god.
""We want our children to grow up learning that sport is not about competition, rather it's about using your imagination. If you imagine you're good at soccer, then, you are.""
Good luck hoping your children finding a fucking job...
you're all so dumb omg
Wait a minute, isn't this the plot of a KOTH episode?
This is why Canada doesn't have a soccer team anymore. We're just too busy imagining what if we hit the puck into the goal. [sp]D-did I say puck? I meant ball.[/sp]
i just had a good proper laugh
"Hey, that player can't get the ball! You passed it but I intercepted!" "Nuh-uh! I deployed a magic space energy shield that blocked you!" "Nah-aa-aah. I destroyed it with my laser blaster!"
