I am looking for a pretty decent headset for around $60. (Since currently mine has broken...) Does anyone have any suggestions? I am thinking of getting the Turtle Beach Earforce X12, but I am not entirely sure about quality.
I've had a pair of Razer Carcharias for about 3 years now. They're amazingly comfortable(hardly notice they're there, ears never get sore, etc.), high quality sound, high quality microphone. It uses nice cording, volume control and mic enable on the tether, and it's extremely durable. No idea how many times I've dropped these things and they still look brand new.
I have the same exact ones but they recently crapped out on me, the mic that is. The sound was alright and the mic was good but from what I have heard its better to get the mic and headphones separately. Better prices and quality when you do it that way instead of a mediocre mashup of the two.

TL;DR - pretty good microphone, comfortable and has a controller along the wire so you dont have to fiddle in your sound settings in windows. has microphone feedback and occasionally it'll have some static. i say go with the X12
I use a GameCom 780 by Plantronics. It's probably the best headset I've ever had. Valve sells them on their store too. The GameCom 380 is the same as the 780 minus the surround sound, so go for that if you want a good headset for $40~ The 780 The 380
