Currently im running this board - - -> http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813130239 - - i purchased that roughly almost 3 yrs ago when you all helped me with my build.. i only had 4G of ram. Im upgrading my pc so i can run BF4 smoothly when it comes out. I just bought both of these last night and im a lil worried i bought the wrong ram.. The board i have is a LGA 1156 and its says the Ram is LGA 1155.. does anyone know if it will still run in my board. ram - http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231519 GPU - http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814121637
There's no such thing as LGA 1155 RAM, that's a processor socket. The RAM will work fine. I would seriously consider returning the 670; you can get a 7970 for a little less (http://pcpartpicker.com/part/gigabyte-video-card-gvr797oc3gd) which absolutely destroys the 670. You can also get a 760 for $100 less which gets about 1-2 FPS worse performance.
Do you think ill be able to run the ram at 2133? i know some cpu's like the i3 wont let you go over 1600 Cpu - http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819115215
According to this: http://ark.intel.com/products/42915 it won't allow RAM over 1333MHz.
So would i be able to lower the timings on the ram to allow it to work.. or is it any possible to get it to bump up to 1600 ? [editline]8th October 2013[/editline] Keep in mind i have my I5 OC to 3.6 from 2.6

At base speed it doesnt support more than 1333 tough. You will not notice any real difference anyway. Rams speeds dont mean that much.
okay i have a question. My stuff just got in today and my card is running awsome. I tried installing the ram. It wouldnt boot for some reason when i have all the dim slots took up. I have 4 dims to use. it would only boot if i took out one of my 2g sticks.. leaving me at 10g then rather then having 12.. It says my board can support up to 16g I have 2x 2g sticks = 4g 2 x 4g sticks = 8g
You might have to manually underclock the RAM. Try booting into bios and setting it to 1333MHz

In real world scenarios applicable to you, you aren't going to notice any difference between 1333 and 1600 MHz RAM. Those CPUs are also more unforgiving of memory voltage. The max memory voltage they can run at safely without risking burning the memory controller out is 1.575v, while your 2133 RAM requires 1.6v. The question is if your RAM always requires 1.6v, or only requires it to run at 2133 MHz.
okay i have a question. My stuff just got in today and my card is running awsome. Modern boards with 4 memory slots have two memory banks (either slot 1-2 & 3-4 are paired or 1-3 & 2-4 are paired.) You need to put only the same type of RAM in each bank. I suggest just sending the RAM you bought back. It's the wrong voltage and the wrong speed. You should carefully research the existing RAM in your machine and buy the exact same stuff, or something very close to it.
Unless your RAM is DoA, the MSI boards like those seem to favor the memory slot bank of 1-3, or 2-4. Make sure to check it's slotted correctly, and do what GiGa said, match up your RAM with the already owned ones. If you don't know which 1-3/2-4 slots are used and which you need etc. your manual will illustrate which will be accepted.
Yeah my board has them color coded. Black blue black blue. My 2 new 4g sticks are in the blue slot and i had my old 2 x 2g sticks in the black but for some reason it wouldnt boot. Only way it booted was when i took either 1 of my old 2g sticks out and it booted single channel instead of dual in this order 2g/4g/4g i had to take out my other 2g before i could boot in dual channel so im only running 8g as we speak
Try replacing the 2GB stick currently in the computer with the one outside, if it doesn't boot then that stick is dead.
i dont know how the stick would be dead when they were working just fine before i put the new stuff in. Does the new ram have to be exactly the same as my old ones.. because my old ones are g skill ripjaws and these are g skill snipers?
bump
Please give us the exact specifications of your motherboard and old RAM. My advice would be to return the new RAM you purchased.
