• Processor fix?

Here's my current PC specs: Intel Celeron CPU 440 @ 2.0 ghz RAM of 1 gb Windows Vista ATI Radeon HD 4650 110 gb hard drive. Currently the only thing holding up being able to play anything is the graphics card. I have trouble playing games like TF2 or gmod because it takes forever to retrieve info from any server. Even when I am able to join, I get like 5 fps on low....its terrible. Would getting a better processor solve this problem?
I think that you should upgrade your processor and ram. Get 4gb of ram if you can, and aim for a dual-core that can fit into that socket...
most this motherboard can support is 2gb apparently. but ill look into the processor.
Well... then you might aswell look into getting a new build.. I can't really suggest you a new motherboard since I don't know anything about your case/PSU, and It's always better, and cheaper to start fresh if your computer is that out of date..
Yeah, the computer is more than 5 years old. It's pretty sad that my old windows xp computer could run better than the one I listed.
Just build a new rig. Newegg.com, grab an HD5770, 4GB of RAM, some AM3 motherboard, a Phenom II 955 and you have a decent quad-core that will last a while. Then if you need to upgrade down the road, you can update the BIOS on the motherboard so you can use the new 6-core CPUs, throw in some more RAM, change the GPU and done. If you want to get a slightly better rig than that, I'd switch out the GPU. And maybe grab another 2GB of RAM.

If you want to improve it just a bit, go out and get some Arctic Silver 5 for 10 bucks, try to reapply the thermal paste - chances are that if it was a prebuild, the paste was applied badly - and you could improve temperature + performance with new paste..
Yeah, its probably better I just build a rig from the ground up. I already have a scout midtower case. That's about it unless if I took out the graphics card and the power supply. Nikomo, how much would that build cost?
