Wait, so basically all this does is hijack the URL that Origin goes to when you launch a game to something with malware? As long as you aren't a retard and make sure you go to EA sites you should be fine (from the way the article is worded, I haven't used origin in a while)

Basically if your browser pops open and the URL looks fishy then it may be rise to do a little research before OK'ing the redirect.
So it's hard to pull off because of most browsers having security measures built in, thus making it not very likely to actually happen to you. That's a relief.
hmmm something seems fishy here [t]http://i.imgur.com/6vg5vY7.png[/t]
hmmm something seems fishy here [t]http://i.imgur.com/6vg5vY7.png[/t]
Nah, that's legit, they're giving out a free game. Just make sure you're actually at origin
"and don't go to any sites that are clearly shifty. You know the ones." And then it links to PC Gamer. Classy
so what they're saying that if you modified origin it could do bad things?? that means absolutely nothing you can modify any program to trash your computer and that's not the fault of the program

I still wouldn't feel safe using Origin... maybe it's because I distrust EA.
Most browsers warn you before it launches custom URLs anyway. BTW, it's the URL scheme, not modifying the client. Probably a simple buffer overrun.
ok enjoy your virus meanwhile i'll be protected when i go to it on my mac
Is this a legitimate or sarcastic humor post? I actually can't tell.
So customer support was just trying to get my personal info before the hackers do. EA cares...
