• If you could remove one bodily need which would it be?

Sort of inspired by the comfort/burden thread. This would just be removing the need to do it. If you want you can still do it as often as you normally would need to.(No unlimited piss/pissing a new ocean/hey watch this situations) And if one bodily function relies on the one you pick, pretend it still functions like normal. (Removing the need to eat won't stop you from opening the bathroom bakery every now and then) For heat regulation, your body magically heats or cools itself to the safe range. Sleeping - More hours to be productive. But you're really gonna just spend it on the internet anyways. Breathing - You're just gonna use this to terrify people by hiding submerged in water aren't you? Eating - Perfect for those who want to become a new religious figure. Drinking - Bear Grylls would be heartbroken. Pissing - See above. Shitting - On the plus side, since you can still do it, you can easily save one for when you want to ruin someone else's day. Heat Regulation - For the nudist that wants to prank the Antarctic research station.
Wouldn't ridding eating nullify a need for shitting? Likewise, drinking to pissing? That said, I would choose sleeping. I sleep at 4AM and wake at 1PM as it is so the extra freetime would still outweigh the amount I spent shitting or eating, times I can still theoretically get things done while doing. Unlike sleep, where everything has to be halted.
Sleeping is the best thing i know, got very surprised when i saw the majority picked that
Eating because food costs money and I'm a stingy bastard
Sleeping is still heavily dependent if you get sleepy spells during the day or something. But yeah, getting back 8 hours a day for the rest of my life kinda trumps stuff like meals which are already enjoyable, and bathroom breaks which are time to catch up on campy books.
Sleeping is the best thing i know, got very surprised when i saw the majority picked that
The thing is, by removing sleeping you're removing the negative things that make sleeping relieving. If you never have a need to sleep you'll never get a "energy boost" from it because you'd always be full energy.
Imagine if no one needed to sleep anymore. Say hello to 16 hour work days.
Shitting, because my digestion is horrible to begin with.
Imagine if no one needed to sleep anymore. Say hello to 16 hour work days.
mental breaks are just as important as sleep ones though, we'd see work hours increase by 2-3+ but then you never get sleepy so at the very least you'll still have all your previous sleep time turned into freetime and you won't be tired after work, just mentally drained [editline]27th February 2017[/editline]
No sleep sounds nice, you would probably go mad eventually though.
I bet sensory deprivation tanks would be a huge lifestyle, assuming sleep was completely nonexistent in this theoretical scenario. that and drugs.
sleeping, the general need for rest never-ending world tour until death
Heat regulation, as I sometimes struggle with this. I can be cold but sweat like a pig or be overheating while it's cold around me. Also I sweat. In fact I sweat easily and all the time. it's fucking annoying.
Wouldn't ridding eating nullify a need for shitting? Likewise, drinking to pissing?
I still want to eat pancakes.
Just imagine the huge changes society would undertake if any one of these impacted humanity as a whole. But here's what I see the main advantages of each would be: Sleeping gives 25-33% more time in your life, unless this is some dumb wish genie thing where you live a life that's 30% shorter. Arguably the best returns in modern society. Breathing allows you to survive situations involving lack of air or toxic air. Great in industrial environments and accidents, partial apocalypse proofing. Eating is not very useful in society with abundant food other than saving money. Great for travelling anywhere. Partial apocalypse proofing. Unless you can't eat food, then it'd be hell. Drinking removes obstacle of dehydration. Less useful than eating due to abundance of water. No water guarantees an unsustainable food supply, so less apocalypse proofing. Urinating is accomplished by previous. Defecating would be convenient for adult film acting or working--as long as you're attractive. No risk of messing yourself. Heat Regulation is convenient for traveling globe and overall comfort through seasons. Climate change proofing.
Heat regulation because it's like the only one which your body doesn't reward you with good-feels for doing. Maybe breathing too.
You mean you don't feel great in a warm and cozy bed? Or the awesome feeling of jumping into a cool pool on a hot day? [editline]27th February 2017[/editline] Also wouldn't "Heat Regulation" also make you completely fire and freezing proof?
Shitting because it is a shameful act
Wouldn't ridding eating nullify a need for shitting? Likewise, drinking to pissing?

And if one bodily function relies on the one you pick, pretend it still functions like normal. No sleep means you have a full 8-9 hours of extra shit to do you could use that time to work on something, exorcise, etc that's kind of a fucking wild boost. Sure maybe you'll occasionally get bored trying to find out what to do but if you figure out how to use your time you will be able to do way more.
I still want to eat pancakes.
You can still eat, but you don't have to
Eating I'd rather drink
Sleeping, but that could make my days horribly drawn out and boring.
I'd totally work on my projects for a week straight but nah gotta throw away like 40% of that time for sleep
Eliminating the need for sleep essentially guarantees that you'll get to spend at least have again the normal amount of time experiencing things in life. Because humans do sleep through most of it.
i'm constipated right now so shitting sleeping is too good to pass out on my dudes
None of the ones in the poll. I would instead remove the function of my sinuses and mucous membranes so will never feel the effects of a cold again.
Sleeping - yeah, it'll get me nearly twice as much consciousness time, but fuck that I love dreaming Eating - too good to pass, food is very much up there with the rest of life's delights Drinking - same, although admitedly less Pissing - not much problem here Shitting - i need excuses to take a break from whatever im doing sometimes Heat Regulation - I don't really know about this Breathing is definitely the right choice, it has no upsides (other than the intake of fresh air which can be nice), and this allows you to stay underwater for as much as you like

[editline]27th February 2017[/editline] no fresh pizza smell
ah shit good point
I'd personally be okay with not having to deal with hot/cold temperatures anymore :ok:
I enjoy sleeping but it's technically a waste of time. If I could take occasional sleep only because I want to that would be perfect.
I like sleep, especially with someone I love. But me needing to take a piss happens at the worst of times it seems.
