I need a camcorder for youtube vlogs. It must be hd possibly 1080p. I would like to stay below 300 € but there are so many choices i really don't know where to look...
Sony Bloggie
Sony Bloggie
well... thats a pocket one tho. I'd say a big one if possible
Any model from Canon's PowerShot lineup.
video video logging
Go with a regular digital camera. Most take really good video. Also 1080p is used by maybe 2% of the people who watch vlogs. Being worth watching is more important. For my camera stuff I nearly always just record 1080p and scale to 720p to fix some sharpness issues.
hd don't mean shit, my phone records in 720p but this is literal footage from it http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2kSZdD9bNUA in _optimal lighting_ if you're just recording vlogs then you really don't need to blow $400 on a pro camera, just buy a flip hd. used or something they can easily go for like $50 and there aren't even moving parts to break. if you're trying to go pro from an already established user base then then worry about it, my sister is gonna buy a camera to bump up her channel from shitty digital camera video to ~pro youtube partner quality~ with a vixia hf m40 but if you're gonna blow $500 on a whim then good for you i guess
I suggest you not go with a digital camera, focus is not usually as good and they tend not to be able to focus as well close up or have a macro video mode. Of course if you don't care too much about super high quality or mobility you'd probably be better off getting a good quality webcam instead. As the Brt5470 said you don't really need 1080p, 720p is more the sufficient for practically everything.

A great webcam would serve you better. I use a c910 and if you have plenty of light it looks fantastic. Or any of the lifecams I bet

I have the same camera in my phone and it's much better.

it probably is but even when its recording to optimized h.264 in cm7 it still blows equal amounts of shit because no amount of encoding can make that framerate good
it probably is but even when its recording to optimized h.264 in cm7 it still blows equal amounts of shit because no amount of encoding can make that framerate good
True, but on my phone, for some reason, when I had Gingerbread, it enabled "high" quality sound and video. The videos were still 320 x 240, but at least they didn't sound like someone rubbing a cheese grater on a mic.
Get an iPhone 4S ... you get a neat phone, and you can make videos from it. Otherwise, stick with your current phone. The GOPRO hero2 is pretty nice too, it is a bit awkward to vlog with, but it's really flexible.
Doesn't the GoPro have terrible audio?
It's alright. Not entirely horrible, just sounds "monoy"
I think it's kinda annoying to listen to after a while, at least.
I think it's kinda annoying to listen to after a while, at least.
I'll agree I guess. Just get one of those 1080P camcorders around 400$ that records to SD. Bloggie and flip are mostly mono I believe. The quality is ASS when you have less than standard lighting out in daylight.
The sound of pocket camcorders is pretty tinny usually.
