Wiki Copypasta:
[quote]Dance Gavin Dance was originally formed out of the dissolution of two other bands, Farewell Unknown and Ghost Runner on Third.[1] Jonny Craig of Ghost Runner on Third and Sean O'Sullivan joined in 2005 and early 2006 to complete the lineup. Dance Gavin Dance released their first self-produced EP on November 14, 2006, entitled Whatever I Say Is Royal Ocean through Rise Records. The name "Dance Gavin Dance" was derived by then lead singer Jonny Craig, who had planned to name his previous band (Ghost Runner on Third) by that title
In November 2007, original lead singer Jonny Craig quit the band due to extreme tensions and personal conflicts with the other band members.

Yeah, they are fantastic.
I came in here expecting shit.

Yeah, it's quite odd, eh?
Do you guys know any other awesome bands like Dance Gavin Dance?
I always find it wierd when bands change their vocalists, they may as well change their name and declare themselves a new band.
The only post hardcore band I like.
1st album - good
2nd album (selftitled) - kinda gay
3rd album - good
i saw them at warped tour this year and they were probably my favorite behind chiodos
They're not bad, but I just can't get into the screaming thing.

They're pretty much a completly new band now, not just a new vocalist.

This. My favourite.
I saw them at warped in Charlotte.

Exactly, so why don't they change their name? Otherwise it just gets confusing.
If anyone has like a list of the albums before/after the new vocalist, then that would help me understand this whole operation a little better.
This band makes me want to play Apollo Justice now.
the first thing i say in the morning is fuck that shit!
Love them to death. :D Their guitarwork reminds me a lot of The Fall of Troy but their vocalist is a lot more tolerable.
I discovered them when they played alongside Attack Attack!. I love them.
His screams have a certain quality to them.

I agree really. DGD is more mainstream indeed, but kinda similar to TFoT.

I think he doesn't like TFoT's screaming vocals.
Hm, I thought DGD would be shitty, since the name reminded me of all those shitty -core bands, but I was quite surprised. It's like a more mellow TFoT, which is definitely fine by me.
Kinda reminds me of The Syncope Threshold.

Wtf man, I made a DGD thread way back, like march,(i had a different fp account) and it got ignored. :(
But anyways, this band is awesome, but they're kinda going downhill now that they switched vocalists.
Love this band, gonna see them live at a local venue here in Miami, on Oct 6. Really stoked!

I love The Fall of Troy, don't get me wrong. However, there are times where his voice is just painful to listen to. For example:

That section is meant to sound like that. I like it, to be honest. It sounds more intense and fits the lyrics.
Also, I love DGD's newest album.
