Gun Owners Of America Chief Defends George Zimmerman: Trayvon Martin Was ‘Assailant’
Larry Pratt, the executive director of Second Amendment group Gun Owners of America, offered a rare defense of the man who killed Trayvon Martin, saying George Zimmerman was acting in self defense when he shot the Florida teen. As the facts of the case have emerged, everyone from President Obama to RIck Santorum and Rep. Allen West (R-FL) have condemned the killing.
But appearing on Current TV’s “The Young Turks” with Cenk Uygur Friday, Pratt said Zimmerman and the police acted properly. “Martin passed from becoming a victim to becoming an aggressor” during an alleged altercation, he said. Pratt’s said his view of the facts are based on a single eye witness interviewed by an Orlando news station. “[Martin] should have run away,” Pratt explained, saying Florida’s controversial “Stand Your Ground” laws are irrelevant, because “we’re talking about fighting off an assailant.”
“Once Martin had neutralized the threat, that’s when he should have taken off to get out of there. He doubled down, and he started to really beat the tar out of the guy,” Pratt said. Martin “gave up his rights,” Pratt added.
How the fuck is he the assailant? Holy shit, George Zimmerman shot the kid for no damn reason, his "reason" being he "felt threatened"
Yes, because teenagers randomly assault men twice their size with a bag of Skittles for absolutely no reason.
There is no way whatsoever that an overzealous self-appointed "Neighborhood Watch Captain" carrying a semiautomatic pistol and mumbling about "damn coons" was, in fact, being overzealous and the instigator.
What a fucked way to represent a group.
Is Larry Pratt white?

Skittles are clearly weapons of mass destruction and Zimmerman saved everyone in America from tasting the rainbow.
I don't know how people can defend Zimmerman when the 911 call clearly proves that he is a dick who didn't shoot in self-defence.
It's not self defense if you have time to execute the guy. God damn, the killing shot was an execution shot because Martin was shot already and screaming for his life.
The fuck is wrong with people? How do you justify a death of a teenager, dead by a gun shot too mind you
so if you start shit with someone, the second the person that you initiated the conflict with takes it too far you can kill them?
GUNS ARE GOOD, THEY PROTECT PEOPLE IN CASES LIKE THIS, AND DEFINITELY DON'T KILL PEOPLE.
that's all I can imagine.
Doesn't seem like we have all the facts.

"Zimmerman complied with all of my verbal commands and was secured in handcuffs. While I was in such close contact with Zimmerman, I could observe that his back appeared to be wet and was covered with grass, as if he had been laying on his back on the ground. Zimmerman was also bleeding from the nose and back of his head."
The story keeps getting more and more interesting.
I hate it when groups like this and the NRA think they know every gun owner's opinion and speak their own foolish minds at the expense of all of the reasonable gun owners.

Agreed. I'm all for gun ownership, but this just isn't how you're supposed to go about it.
Owning one comes with a responsiblity to use it properly, a responsibility Zimmerman didn't hold up. He should be in jail.

im sorry but where is a source of him mumbling "damn coons"
he was allowed to carry a pistol anyway, he had a weapons permit
Doesn't seem like we have all the facts.
Perhaps Trayvon struggled against Zimmerman before getting shot. Wouldn't surprise me if Zimmerman tried something before using his gun.
Also, you're assuming the police are worth a shit :v:

I'm pretty sure if a guy follows me and pulls out a gun I have every right to attack him in self-defense.

from what I read he only pulled a gun out when martin attacked zimmerman
who attacks someone pointing a gun at them?

It's a fight or flight situation when someone is pointing a gun at you. I personally don't know how I'd react in such a situation; do or die etc.
For all we know Zimmerman went "Oh shit, I just murdered someone" and tried his best to make it look like it was out of self defense somehow. That's totally going out on a limb of course.

the 911 call.
Skittles are pretty dangerous. He could have thrown them on the ground or something and made him trip!
the 911 call.
he allegedly said "fucking punks" not "fucking coons"
Doesn't seem like we have all the facts.
Forgive me if I don't trust the police department that openly forged evidence.

the media manipulation in this case is weird
why are they using a 5 year old photo of martin and why have they been making zimmermans image look more white?

I have to admit.
If a black guy in a hoodie and said that in a sterotypical angry black persons voice, I would literally shit my pants.
Also some photos from a website.

yeah media on the left side are basically trying to make the public more sympathetic for Martin by using a older photo (about 4-5 years old) because well to be honest he looks like a thug with those gold teeth and angry expressions that he uploaded to his facebook.
Its also likely believed he was a dealer and the area he was walking around in at the time has been a hot spot for a number of crimes including a shooting not a while ago, but that's pretty irrelevant. The police also said they found nothing in Martins pockets other than sweets and a drink, what happened to his wallet/money?
IMAGINE THIS BLACK KID DOING THE FINGERS... WEARING A HOODIE!!! (A DISGUISE) and STALKING a neighbourhood. lol. yeah i guess if you are a psycho paranoid racist you would be worried
uh yeah if it was raining I'd probably wear a hoody too.
basically zimmerman was suspicious of him because he was black I think we can determine, what with how stereotypes in the US work.

So he visits his father in a gated community for a very short period, and it's logical to say he was a dealer in that area?
what realm of reality do you get your facts.
These pictures demonstrate a subtle racism. Honestly, the accounts from his friends, family, teachers, and pretty much EVERYONE who knew him are a little more damning than two facebook pictures.

He was mumbling a generalisation, listen to his 911 call.
Honestly, Zimmerman sounded a bit hopped up on something. When I first heard it, I thought he was on drugs.
But here's the thing, we will never know because the police who investigated this fucked up this investigation to hell.
