Just got this baby on top of the foil one.
I feel like no one cares, but I just blew ten bucks; anyone else fell to the demise for the feeling of being +1?
congratulations
i also, have this. what can you do with all these cards anyway...?
Yeah I don't get it - is Steam a game now?
i also, have this. what can you do with all these cards anyway...?
you turn them into badges, up to lv 5. Then you can level up your account and choose that nice badge to be what people see when they hover over your name in their friend's list on STEAM.

if you have all the ones in the series of a certain game, you can craft them into a badge for steam XP and something like an emoticon.

Or sell them on the market for some ez money.
i saw a person who was like level 83
Individual cards sell for peanuts because of the Summer Sale, we're talking like 50 cents or less at best.
i saw a person who was like level 83
highest is currently 100
I've already seen a couple level 100 Steam users. Quite disturbing.

That'd be Zoey most likely

And I thought I was sick at buffing lv 20...
highest is currently 100
i did the math and the total money spent is about ~260$
thats if every card was 30 cents, including foils
I like the level system since it adds stuff onto your profile the more you do.
makes you feel like your actually getting stuff in return for doing it.

Eh, I never liked valve's marketing system; it's a fun little system but it sucks many people's wallets away. Not saying it's bad; but tf2conomy has millions put into it and now the community market is just an example of what they're going to have in the future; I think.

Maybe I'm only saying that because I was dumb enough to fall into it; and it is a fun hobby, but for some reason I dislike it as a marketing system, almost like subscribing to an MMO but instead of paying to play it's paying to microtransact.
I would like the idea more if trading or spending money wasn't a required part of it.
I liked the idea of achievements and things like that, because they actually help to show how much time you've invested in a game, but badges as they are now just show off what a savvy trader you are.
But I won't feel resentful unless higher-level members start getting more tangible rewards, like discounts or new features. As long as it's related to cosmetic things like profile backgrounds and emoticons and shit, I don't care.
I just sell every trading card I get on the market. Even if it's only like 20 cents each, it really racks up. I've already bought FTL and Scribblenauts with money from this.
Gmod level 5 is about 4.3 euro.
I actaully made a damn profit by crafting my level 5 badge.
Currently level 12 myself.
Steam cards + steam sales = free games.

Isn't there a limit to how many things you can sell on the Market in a year?
Isn't there a limit to how many things you can sell on the Market in a year?
200 I believe.
I just wanted my TF2 badge to be maxed out, now i dont care anymore.
Isn't there a limit to how many things you can sell on the Market in a year?
There is no limit anymore
I sell every card I get for a couple of cents. It really does add up
Same here; I'm not all that bothered trying to gather cards for making badges, but if people do indeed want them cards, I sell them at a reasonable price (usually it's around 13p), hoping that no-one tries to break the card market by putting them on at like 1-4 pence like what happens with the older crates and certain products on Amazon.
Hopefully, if I find myself with another Booster Pack, I'll find a foil one, and since Foil cards are usually more valuable, that means more credit for microtransactions; maybe enough to get the key for that newfangled summer stash Quirt put out.
The only level I care about is my user level, and as long as it's high enough to let me vote on the sales I couldn't care about that either. At least it's a neat gimmick for people who give a shit about that stuff.
Maybe a decade and a half of playing RPGs has made leveling systems lose their wonder for me.
i cared enough for two lvl1 game badges
then i stopped caring, now i'm selling every card I find
also lol @ people with high level, "I spend my paycheck on: food, rent, games"
