If you don't know what Spotify is you either live under a rock in Europe or you live in the US and ignore Europe entirely. Well now Spotify is coming to the US. Punch in your email here and you'll get an invite as soon as it goes live.
Too bad they get spotify after it was made worse than before (talking about the free version here).
What's spotify? I signed up, but it doesn't explain what it is.
Too bad they get spotify after it was made worse than before (talking about the free version here).
Shock, the free version of a premium service sucks! Best investment I've ever made was Premium, and if you love music and discovering music this is by far the best service you can use.
How well does Spotify pair against something like Pandora? I read somewhere that you can save your songs to play while offline, is this true? and available for the free version?

Just buy premium. I promise you wont regret it.
FYI
Spotify is a Swedish DRM-based music streaming service offering streaming of selected music from a range of major and independent record labels, including Sony, EMI, Warner Music Group, and Universal.[3][4] Launched in October 2008 by Swedish startup "Spotify AB", the service had approximately ten million users as of 15 September 2010;[5] about 1,000,000 of which were paying members.
Eh, I camp on various online radio stations, and use a Smartphone with Shazam instead.
But half the reason I do that, is because Spotify refuses to offer their service in Denmark, even though I know of several workarounds.
The reason they refuse to offer their service here in Denmark is a mix of bitchy record companies and APG being constantly PMS'ing as usual.
I have Spotify Unlimited, had it for two months. Really great product and I strongly recommend it
Still not available here!
I've been to Europe and I still don't know what Spotify is.
Seems ok, nothing to hoot and holler about.
Meh, Grooveshark seems better these days
Bah, last.fm is better, and free.
Of course, as far as I know, they're completely different types of services.
Oh man Spotify is great or at least was an year ago.
It's definitely worth checking out.

You don't know what you're talking about.
Spotify is great.
You pay a monthly fee, and you can listen to as much music as you want, all in high quality and advert free.
I'd recommend it to anyone.
I got a UK friend who I send money to and he pays for my Spotify account (that he created). I just use it. Spotify is amazing.
So...couldn't you just play tracks over Spotify for free, and run an audio recording program in the background? Thus netting all the free music files you could ever want?
I can't believe the RIAA is actually letting this happen.

Let's just say there's actually programs made specifically for that purpose.
But the decent ones costs around 20 dollars.
About fucking time. I just wish I knew more about it. I just know that it involves music, and it's really fucking awesome.

Nevermind, read the thread. I continue with the previous stated. About fucking time, and I can't wait.

Yeah, this is possible. You can also do it with movies and TV.
The downside is that to record 30 hours of music, you need to play 30 hours of music.
It'd just be easier to download it all at whatever ridiculous speed your internet connection is.
Expect very limited features if you don't subscribe.
You mean audacity? That one is free.
Nope, programs DEDICATED to ripping music from free/cheap music services.
Let me fire up my laptop, I have one example of such program on it.
http://www.applian.com/replay-music/
There it is.
Can record, identify and tag songs while you're hearing them, from whatever music service playing on your computer.
meh, stopped using it after they completely fucked it over to funnel people into paying for it.
shame they ruined it, it WAS A really good service.
they want money
it's worth the money
get the fuck over it
I think I'll just stick to last.fm unless someone can convince me that paying for something that I already get for free is worth it.
How many more features does it have?
