• New GPU or replace it all?

Howdy ya'll, I'm running the following, and it's my understanding that my Processor is a few notches above most(at least for it's time anyway), but I'm wondering, let's say I threw in a new $250-300USD GPU, would I see KILLER PERFORMANCE 1337, or would my aging CPU bottleneck what modern games can do? Also would having only 4gb of ram(high-end Corsair, but 4x1gb sticks) be a problem for games these days? Current GPU is an ATI 5770 Just wanted to hear some people's 2¢, thanks.
Would you see better performance? Hell yes, would you be bottlenecked? Yes, Highly suggest saving up some money and at least getting an i3 and a good motherboard before you go get a new GPU. And if you're wondering how an i3 will outperform a quad? Trust me, it just will.
I'd say replace it all. It will be better for you in the long run.
Same, if you don't want to replace one by one over some time, then replace it all, maybe a new PC or something.
Replace it all and go with a nice quad core i7 if you can afford it.
Replace it all and go with a nice quad core i7 if you can afford it.
Don't get an i7 for games, hyperthreading really doesn't do much for gaming, get an i5 instead, save yourself some money. I'd say replace it all, you shouldn't really need more RAM though, 4 gigs is fine for games for the most part really.
I was afraid you were going to say that :-( I don't really play enough games now to justify new hardware, but was thinking that for Gta V I'd look into a new card for a performance boost(No no, I'm not about to buy a card now for a game that comes out in a year don't worry.) Would dropping >$250 on a card then without touching the other hardware make any sort of sense?
Eh, kinda maybe.
GTA IV was cpu intensive. But then again it was a console port. Hopefully GTA V will be different if not, you should get a new cpu if you wanna play it on max.
Can anyone explain to me how my current CPU goes for ~$170 here http://www.ebay.com/itm/Intel-Core-2-Quad-Q9550-2-83-GHz-Quad-Core-Processor-/251086525076?pt=CPUs&hash=item3a75ec5294#ht_500wt_1100 When you can get this brand new superior one for $10 more http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819115076 I am confuse, seems like I could ebay my current PC parts and upgrade on the cheap. I don't understand who would buy the Q9550 over a brand new intel chip for around the same price.
Because people on ebay are dumb.
I think it is all greed.... They want at least what they paid for it. [editline]24th June 2012[/editline] I have even seen things on eBay for more than what I can buy it new for.... I just laugh and buy the new one.
