A senior Saudi cleric has banned people from taking pictures with cats and says taking photos in general is prohibited. Speaking in a televised broadcast, Sheikh Saleh Bin Fawzan Al-Fawzan was asked about "a new trend of taking pictures with cats" which "has been spreading among people who want to be like the Westerners". The sheikh initially appears incredulous, asking: "What?! What do you mean pictures with cats?" He then declares: "Taking pictures is prohibited. The cats don't matter here."
source: http://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/middle-east/senior-saudi-cleric-bans-people-from-taking-pictures-with-cats-a7050756.html
This is the last straw, you Saudi bastards. He banned chess? Didn't chess come from the middle east?
Nuke em
:bullshit: Title is clickbaity, you're not allowed to take pictures at all. Let alone cats. If you get a camera you're going to get stoned.
He banned chess? Didn't chess come from the middle east?
Just like Arabic numerals, chess is Indian.
But the article contains so many pictures of this guy. Wouldn't that be prohibited as well? I am confused.
just a religious belief thing rather than an actual rule i hear crazy shit like this spread out on facebook all the time its nothing new
Saudi Arabia's a theocracy with religious police.
:bullshit: Title is clickbaity, you're not allowed to take pictures at all. Let alone cats. If you get a camera you're going to get stoned.
yeah but isn't TV technically 'pictures'? so isn't he himself breaking the rule he is trying to set?
"Taking pictures is prohibited. The cats don't matter here."
Welcome to Saudi Arabia, the country where everything's bullshit and the cats don't matter. That's right, the cats are just like the human rights, they just don't matter!
What CAN you still do in Saudi Arabia? Probably watch paint dry and beat women with rocks, up until one is also deemed inapropriate. Guess which one is, the answer probably won't surprise you...

Taking pictures at work can be really useful though. For example: I take pictures of how a workpiece is set up in CNC machine. I guess they just have to draw everything then, very efficient.
Honestly I don't see the difference between the ideals of Saudi Arabian Islam and the ideals of the Taliban. It's eerie reading books from the Army in Afghanistan and then reading these articles and seeing the similarities. Taking pictures is forbidden, entertainment forbidden, educating women forbidden. And yet we still unbowingly support Saudi.
no chess is from india i believe im p sure the rook was originally the elephant.
I believe you confused the rook with the bishop. The latter's even officially called "the elephant" in russian.

Either way, Saudi Arabia needs to be corrected.
"What? A crazy new trend involving photographing cats? This is Unbelievable!" ... "Wait, you're saying I'm also a law-maker? Ah, of course! Let's ban this crazy cat trend that I just heard about! Yes yes, it's good to be a Saudi Cleric!"
thinking rationally is also a trait found in most westerners. Therefore, if you say anything that makes sense- you're getting stoned. "Aye."
Someone is clearly a dog person.
"Taking pictures is prohibited..."

Speaking in a televised broadcast...
I mean, unless video is different...
