Good to see they're still working on updates even with BF3 in the works.
2GB. Quite big
Important note;

If your Windows username contains non-English characters (such as ö, ý, etc) then PunkBuster will not activate properly. To work around this, ensure that your Windows username uses only characters from the English character set. In other words, "7-bit ASCII only, please". We caught this at the very end of the validation pass, and decided that it was better to deliver the build to the public than to give it another tour through the whole patch generation and validation process.
Yeah apparently it's because they want to keep everything in one big patch instead of having it split up in a bunch of small ones, for convenience if you're not using steam (or origin?).
Not at all. It has something to do with their system of modifying game files. Each itteration of it is stacking upon previous changes, meaning they'll get bigger and harder to modify. It's seriously hampering their ability to let out patches any faster than once every few months, because after each patch it gets that much harder to change anything. It's all down to something called file cooking I think.

But Gabe talked about that new feature a while ago that could fix this problem, when are they releasing it?
Glad they updated it and fixed the rubber banding, that was so annoying, especially when I tried to run over people.
whats rubber banding?
Something like this

There's a snow map where you can't look through scopes because it's all blown out and bloomy.... is it deliberate? Does anybody else get it?

Yeah, it's because of the tone mapping, I think. It gets the color of pixels on your screen, and since the scope texture is black and takes up a lot of your screen, it thinks "HOLY SHIT TIME TO BOOST BRIGHTNESS TO THE MAX".
I started this download at 4pm and now it's 6:28pm and it's only 44% done. Jesus Christ.

No more trying to run over people with Quad bikes, getting teleported back 10 metres then ending up dead?
Finally.
BC2 updates have always been big. It's probably due to the frostbite engine.
Still, looks nice.
I guess I'll reinstall the game and hope they fixed the random disconnects error, I really liked playing the game too.
I didn't even notice I downloaded an update for the game.
Same could be said about the mysteriously self download finishing that I get from Portal 2 and Left 4 Dead 2
I wanna be able to play BC2 again, but whenever I log into my account to play it, it tells when to enter my CD key, and when I do that, it says that the key has already been used. And I have played BC2 on that same account.
Nice, hopefully I can play Bad Company 2 without getting pissed off from random FPS drops and rubber banding everywhere.
Welp, the performance issues still stand for me. Guess I'll uninstall it until I get my new computer
Goddamnit I was hoping to get a game in during the lull between my classes. I log on and get smacked with a 2GB update on college internet...

It's an issue with the packing system in the engine. The engine was designed for consoles that which rarely have "big" patches like PC games.
