My system really isn't even that bad and it's struggling with BC2, barely runs it on medium settings. I'm thinking it could possibly be my processor which needs upgrading.
Striker Extreme mobo
Core2 Extreme X6800 2.93 Ghz
8GB DDR2 800mhz
Radeon 4870X2
Nothing is overclocked. I'm sure my system should run the game, but I keep getting frame rate spikes randomly in-game. What do you guys reckon?
But a single 5770 is a slower card than my 4870X2
Don't listen to him, it's not your graphics card. (http://www.overclock.net/pc-games/659400-battlefield-bad-company-2-performance-testing.html)
My guess would be your CPU. Your RAM speed isn't that high, but it shouldn't affect gameplay that much.
I was under the impression BC2 was more of a CPU intensive game...it ran fine for me on medium w/ a 4850 512mb + q8200 @ 3.2
definitely not your gpus...
Get either a new processor or a single OR dual 5770
single 5770 is MUCH worse.

I was thinking CPU too, would upgrading to a decent quad core make that much difference? I can't afford to make the leap to i7 yet.
shit motherboard?
Pepper;24420340']shit motherboard?
Wouldn't make any difference to the performance even if it was.
new cpu
The fuck? Those specs should rape bc2 with fucking ease.
hell i run it full blast on a 4770 on 1920x1080, no aa. maybe a reinstall? messed up drivers>?

you sure about that?
cause when i upgraded my motherboard from a asus p5vd2-vm performance was much better

anyway its not his board

try 10.5
change your GPU drivers and overclock, you have an X6800, what the fuck are you doing with it stock?
It is a very unoptimised and poorly designed engine. Try a different game and compare results.
Not a hardware problem.
Update your drivers / reinstall windows.
Defiently not a hardware problem.. My friend is running it on his i5/5850 laptop. You should have no problems at all. Not that my friends laptop is bad, though.
BC2 (Bad Company 2 I presume) isn't that CPU Dependant, I can run on all max, 2x AA and 1600 x 1200 with a steady 50 - 70fps and I only have a Core 2 Duo E7500 at 3.8GHz.

Because I have problems when I overclock it. Usually get it up to 3.2ghz max anything after that bluescreens or doesn't boot.

Just read some reviews for my motherboard...I've had all the same problems they're suggesting but I managed to fix them myself, but this is probably the reason it doesn't let me overclock stuff very well.
