Anyone remember the good old Alpha/Early Beta days when the game was small populated and not overrun by kids? [IMG_thumb]http://neo.theblob.org/minecraft-example.jpg[/IMG_thumb] Good memories.
I hate to sound like a hipster, but yeah, I do. Played the shit out of it around that time.. and then.. Then? Hot Topic.

Then the last few years it's just been about filling out the shallow features it had.
The only fun I ever have playing Minecraft now is with friends on a LAN server or occasionally here on FP. For me, the game has almost completely lost that feeling of exploration and the will to survive. As soon as you find a carrot, you will never worry about food again. The game needs to add more to world, instead of adding meaningless new blocks that have no affect on the average player. I want cool dungeons, fortresses, and a general improvement to the whole underground experience. Caves are so dull. I really like how they added the ocean fortresses, they need more of that. The game is still fun if I play with a group of friends, more so with mods than vanilla.

The game was about exploration and building, which I think made it unique and special. Also teh novelty of the game at that time.
The game isn't just about command blocks, you know.
The game is a sandbox, it is about whatever you want it to be. I was not serious :v:.
Minecraft is still a lot of fun to come back to every few months to play with friends.
I just dont like how shallowly thought out the new features are. Combat was broken with potions of harming. Removed all the point to bows and swords when you could just throw bottles for the insta kill
The fact that the engine never really changed but the system requirements shot through the roof (forget multiplayer, just in single player) killed it for me. So many things got added on but nothing was ever optimized. Instead we had to rely on external modifications to the game to make things work at the expense of egowars and hot mod-disabling-mod action.
