"This is What Democracy Looks Like" - Protestors Occupy Police Headquarters in St. Louis
Activists protesting the police shooting of Michael Brown reportedly stormed the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department headquarters Wednesday with an intent to “reclaim” the department for the people of Ferguson.
During a “March to the Arch” rally, roughly 15 protesters entered the lobby of the department about 10 a.m. and read a list of demands, a local Fox affiliate reported.
They also reportedly posted hundreds of “Eviction Notices” on the outside of the building for “perpetrating police brutality on our citizenry.”
“We are informing you that the police department is scheduled to be reclaimed by its citizens today, December 31, 2014,” the notice read. It also accused the department of “transforming the police force into a militarized occupying force.”
The scene devolved into chaos once officers tried to remove the protesters from the building. Police used pepper spray on several people trying to rush through the doors of the department, the Fox affiliate reported.
Four women and one man were reportedly arrested and will be charged with trespassing and peace disturbance. The man is also facing an assault charge for assaulting a city marshal inside the headquarters lobby, Fox reported.
Demonstrators are still outside of the building, the station said.
"Get over it."
These crazy fucks are insane.

I hope they got a nice, healthy dose of pepper-spray at least. What assholes.
So what's gonna be accomplished by taking this police station exactly? More lawlessness? That's really great for what's left of their community.
olice used pepper spray on several people trying to rush through the doors of the department
well at least they got it
Lawlessness and violence will not make this better. Society needs police and shutting down the police department is only putting citizens at risk.
Good job.
Hell, if they want lawlessness, let them have it. They'll learn real quick that life without order is a pretty miserable way to exist. It will be just like Detroit or those gang areas in Chicago within no time.
i would love to see what would happen if the whole city just shut down their police department, especially when said city is completely filled with crime already.
If these people believe that Michael Brown was shot and killed unjustly, then they should be protesting the courts, not the police department because it's the courts, or rather a grand jury, who ultimately failed to indict the officer.
Or, better yet, they should stop protesting in the name of someone who, at best, robbed a store then attempted to take an officer's gun and was shot while running away, and instead protest the more general issue of inequality perpetrated by the police (if they feel that is an issue).
Though, regardless, storming into a police station isn't going to gain them any support among the wider population, in just the same way rioting didn't.
so, don't protest in a mall, at the police... where exactly do you want them to protest again? lol
so, don't protest in a mall, at the police... where exactly do you want them to protest again? lol
Literally anywhere that's not gonna inconvenience the average man on the street? I dunno, maybe ruin the days of the people responsible for the creation of laws and their application in order to make your case to them?
I dunno maybe I'm just smarter than your average protester, in the sense I'd rather not fuck around and actually just get straight to the point of getting in the face of the folks who can actually change shit.
"Get over it."
Yes, they should get over it; a bunch of people jumped to a conclusion that some poor kid was shot by the evil white police just because. Then when more information started to come out, and ultimately the decision by a grand jury not to indict came through, a bunch of people dismissed it as a conspiracy or whatever. And still today, there are people protesting and generally causing trouble in the name of someone who wasn't just an innocent kid who got shot by the evil white police. It's stupid.
If they have an issue with the general treatment of african americans by police in that area, then they should protest that; they shouldn't keep protesting over someone who robbed a store and tried to take an officer's gun.
Is it safe to assume that when I call people like this "crazy fucks", that I'm not referencing anti-police brutality advocates that aren't crazy fucks, which seem to be the minority in places like Ferguson?
What upsets me is that there most are definitely racially motivated police brutalities that happen that should get traction, but I feel like the two really famous ones recently were not racially motivated at all based on the evidence I saw. I feel like what's happening in Ferguson is the product of media shitstorming, and the snowballing attraction of joining a cause that allows you to do things like radical protesting and rioting while still being on moral high ground.

How exactly do you invade a police station without getting shot, tased, beanbagged, bludgeoned, or gassed
so, don't protest in a mall, at the police... where exactly do you want them to protest again? lol
protesting in front of the police department is fine. charging in with the intent to take it over is not.
How exactly do you invade a police station without getting shot, tased, beanbagged, bludgeoned, or gassed
Considering that it says they were fought back with pepper spray, you don't.
i would love to see what would happen if the whole city just shut down their police department, especially when said city is completely filled with crime already.
Ferguson would probably burn to the ground and people from the area would spread out across the country bringing their braindead idea's with them, razing and pillaging everywhere they go.

Your house, 11pm to ???
Oh wait right I know that it's stupid to protest on private property and it's only legal if you get consent first. Otherwise, you have to choose a public venue, like a street perhaps.
So your neighborhood, 11pm to whenever the riot police show up because this crap is cyclical.

Well that's exactly what's happening so your feelings are justified, unlike the vast majority of these protesters.
Okay guys, I know you're upset and all. But c'mon. A police HQ. Filled to the brim with armed officers, riot gear, etc?
Someone did not think this through.

When they were protesting on the street weren't you complaining about them blocking the street

pretty sure that was a highway not a street,.
Oh my God, a cop shot a black guy because the black guy was a piece of shit! Lets protest! Fucking imbeciles, EVERY fucking one of them.
so, don't protest in a mall, at the police... where exactly do you want them to protest again? lol
That's pretty much the point. Everyone in this thread wants the protesters to go away so they can reassure themselves that our entire justice system is not, in fact, a systemically racist shitshow of unaccountable violence.
Shitting on protesters for fighting for their right not to be shot by police for being black is a hell of a lot easier than dealing with the reality of how fucked our justice system is.

Storming a police station in an attempt to take it over is literally the worst idea for gaining and keeping any amount of credibility. Like this they just look like crazy people (and I would say it is pretty damn crazy to think they can do that). They need to protest outside government buildings, Courthouses, police stations, places that matter. Storming one is not protesting, it's attacking.
so, don't protest in a mall, at the police... where exactly do you want them to protest again? lol
an outside public venue or an inside public venue with permission and the required permit(s).

How many lanes can a road have before BANNED USER won't let people protest there anymore

I'm surprised people stopped for the protesters. Just keep on driving if they're trying to take it. They have no business on that highway.
