I have made alot of these threads, but I only do so because technology develops quick and I feel that now is a good time to be upgrading with tax returns coming around the corner and such. So here's the deal. Here are my current specifications Processor - AMD Athlon FX-62 RAM - 2GB DDR2 Video Card - 9800GTX And my power supply is dying Here is what I want. I need a.. CPU At least 4-8GB RAM (Lots of rendering, After Effects work, Crysis mapping etc) Motherboard 2TB HDD Power Supply to power it all OPTIONAL Video Card If it can be under $600 that would be great but $800 is the max I can afford. Hoping I can get me a new baby soon. EDIT Okay so I actually put something together for pretty cheap and I just want to make sure it works. My video card has two (6 or 8?) pin connection so I want to make sure this PSU supports that Motherboard: ASUS M4A88T-V EVO/USB3 AM3 AMD 880G USB 3.0 HDMI ATX AMD Motherboard http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131668 RAM: A-DATA Gaming Series 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820211409 PSU: CORSAIR Enthusiast Series CMPSU-650TX 650W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS Certified Active PFC Compatible http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139005 CPU: AMD Phenom II X4 955 Black Edition Deneb 3.2GHz Socket AM3 125W Quad-Core Processor http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819103808 I know I forgot the HDD but I can go for this right meow and then upgrade within a week after I get it all together. I'd go for a i7 2500K with an ASUS P8P67 Pro motherboard, 4x2GB of RAM and an aftermarket cooler to overclock it, that should (Together with your old GPU) do any rendering you'd require.
How about this for the PSU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817171052 This for the mobo/CPU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboDealDetails.aspx?ItemList=Combo.576624 as for RAM what you have above is fine, and for the HDD, 2TB 7200rpm HDDs tend to be expensive, so why not go 2x 1TB F3s

I like the intel chipset but the AMD Phenom seems to be pretty good pricewise.
Yeah, they're good pricewise, but a 2500K is far better than the Phenom II simply put, you get what you pay for. But it's up to you, I guess.
So after some research I decided to go ahead and get the 2500K. Thanks for your help and input Jaehead.
