This film is basically an animated adaptation of Robert Louis Stevenson's 'Treasure Island' in space, steampunk style (steampunk space travel, yep). So, treasure island is replaced with a treasure planet, the sea is replaced with space, Long John Silver is now an alien cyborg, his parrot is a pink shapeshifter, and ships are now... uh... still ships. With solar sails. If scientific accuracy is your thing, a lot of things in this film are going to distract you. But the visuals are AWESOME. I remember watching parts of this film when I was 9, so I decided to watch the whole thing on youtube, and I was pleasantly surprised. Not only are the action sequences fantastic, but I really enjoyed the relationship between the two main characters. Sure, there are some things that made me cringe a little (mainly the antics of Dr. Delbert and the captain cat woman) but I definitely had a lot of fun with it. I even laughed at the alien crewmember who communicates by farting (I cringed at first, but then the way it responds to Delbert made me laugh out loud. also, it's a gorgeously animated fart creature, like everything else in this film. Granted, it was like 3 in the morning when I was watching it) Anyway, I wanted to hear what facepunch thought of this film. People say it's underrated, and I agree, although I can see why others would criticise it.
I loved it, it was a pretty kickass movie.
I... fucking... LOVED it when I was a kid... Anyone here played this game?
I saw the ending a few weeks ago, was amazing. For some reason I never saw the whole movie though v:v:v

Pretty awesome movie. Maybe a little by-the-numbers, but who cares? It had pirates! In space!
If there was one thing I would change about this movie, it would be this loudmouthed fucker. Seriously.
I fucking loved it as a kid, and I still do.
Whenever I hear of this film all I can think of is Disneyfan01 :ohdear:
An amazing film, I only saw parts of it though.
Whenever I hear of this film all I can think of is Disneyfan01 :ohdear:
I just put that name into google and I went on the ED article and... oh dear. :ohdear:
Don't believe the ED. It's likely fabrications or exaggerations.
Don't believe the ED. It's likely fabrications or exaggerations.
Everything on ED is lies, but that's irrelevant when those images are now burned forever into my mind. Also you're a SC2 fan. High five.

am I the only one that got a boner from the cat Captain?
It was indeed an interesting film. Dunno if I'd call it steampunk though, it's kind of a weird mix of steam/cyberpunk.
Blah, my least favorite Disney movie ever. I honestly can't sit through this movie without wanting to kill something. I'm surprised so many people like it in this thread, I thought everyone hated it.
This movie was diamonds... err, STEAM POWERED DIAMONDS! :eng101: [editline]06:17AM[/editline]
Blah, my least favorite Disney movie ever. But then I never really liked any disney films, even when I was a kid.
