IT’S the story that sounds like a Seth Rogen movie sequel — a British teenager has hacked into North Korea’s version of Facebook using the password “Password”. Eighteen-year-old Scottish student Andrew McKean has admitted to hacking the recently launched “Best Korean Social Network” when he discovered the North Korean IT department had made the classic mistake of not changing the default security settings.
http://www.foxnews.com/tech/2016/06/01/teen-hacks-into-north-korean-facebook-using-password-password.html?intcmp=hplnws
Isn't that cracking not hacking?
Um, any actually sponsored NK would be behind Kwangmyong, something an 18y/o wouldn't be able to access.
Isn't that cracking not hacking?
I just ripped the articles name directly, and its fox, so you can't really expect much in the way of tech-literacy.
"Best Korean Social Network" I'm thinking that this is a parody site. Unless they ACTUALLY refer to themselves as "Best Korea"
Isn't that cracking not hacking?
Its hacking, although from the sounds of things it wasnt very hard to gain access so its probably something almost anyone could have done. Its a security flaw that people create often enough that its probably one of the first things an attacker will try. Cracking is usually referring to reverse engineering programs in order to defeat their security or to gain access to parts of its source code you want, hacking is generally gaining access to networks the outside is not supposed to have free access to. So yea its hacking but calling the person a hacker will probably be misleading to a lot of people, because it sounds like he was just some random dude who was dicking around and got in.

The should name the new password "FishKiller" , because most of their missiles end up in the ocean.
they should change it to hunter2

For every time china or someone hacks us and it makes the news, we probably have done worse to them but they don't have to report it
