• Motorola Milestone still a good phone or is there something better?

I'm thinking about getting a full button keyboard phone (unlocked so I can just simply insert my Rogers SIM card) used mainly for texting and I've narrowed it down to the Milestone or a blackberry. Budget:~$400CAD I'm really considering the Milestone but it's an old model. Is there a better deal out there?
Not at all, wait until the dual core Motorola phone comes out if anything, I bought the Droid(same thing but uses CDMA, Verizon exclusive in the US) thinking it'd be a high end phone, snapdragon came and raped the Android platform to hell within 2 months later, sure it's a good phone. It runs 2.2 well, especially if you root it and put an 800mhz kernel on it but then again, 3.0 is going to come out before Q2 of 2011 and there will be a minimum spec requirement, 1ghz processor. Another issue with the phone is, there is literally no flash memory on this thing, sure you have 512MBs but to install apps that are graphically heavy, you'll have to pick and choose which one phone you want more.
Oh nice dual core phones :) Hopefully the models will have full button keyboard. Not a fan of touch screen keyboards. I should add that into the opening :) Did a quick google search and came across this baby I doubt I can afford it :(
I would get an HTC G2 or the HTC 7 Pro(which runs on Windows Phone 7 OS) If you're into Nokia's MeeGo operating system which comes out in 2011 or the Nokia N900 WHICH RUNS LINUX(not watered down) By the way, I am assuming you're running on a GSM network.
Omg that last phone looks so sexy! And yes, I hope the phones are unlocked because I'm just going to insert my Rogers SIM card

So you'll have quite a choice. CAD: 409.85 http://www.amazon.com/Nokia-N900-Unlocked-Computer-Touchscreen/dp/B002OB49SW Enjoy
Thanks <3 Though the keyboard looks smaller than the Milestone imo, I wonder how comfortable it is? I should visit a store and get my hands on a demo model if I can find one :)
I tried a demo model of the N900 at Assembly Summer 2010 (Demoscene/LAN-party. Nokia being a finnish company and Assembly being Finland's biggest demoscene/LAN-party kind of made the presence of a Nokia booth kind of obvious) The keyboard is fucking amazing. It just feels... Like a keyboard. It's a damn keyboard. It really is. It took me about a minute of learning and I was typing as fast as I do on my netbook keyboard, and it feels nice to type on it. I wouldn't write a book on it, but emails and IRC, hell yes.
Motorola remains to be pretty shit still. I suggest the N900. The N series has always been a solid phone. Im still in a struggle to determine to buy either the N8(Symbian), or the N900(Linux).

After looking around on the internet I still have my eyes hooked on the Milestone 2 (release: Q4 this year) If I can't find a good deal on the N900 then the milestone is my backup :P

The Milestone / Droid is still a great phone, but there are definitely better out there.
Buy an iPhone 4 hurr [editline]24th October 2010[/editline] To be honest, the iPhone 4 is actually a very good phone if you are getting it with a contract or is buying it for a discounted price, and if it is jailbroken. A plain and unjailbroken iPhone is pure useless.
Doesn't the Iphone 4 use a Micro SIM card?
Doesn't the Iphone 4 use a Micro SIM card?
Yes, but a micro SIM is just a normal one with some plastic cut off
Yes, but a micro SIM is just a normal one with some plastic cut off
Oh really? I didn't know that :O So i just cut my SIM card up till it fits? I wonder if I can get my hands on an unlocked iPhone 4 [editline]25th October 2010[/editline] Found the phone I want :P It's a bit more expensive, around $500! Apparently you can install Android on it :O HTC HD2
Oh really? I didn't know that :O So i just cut my SIM card up till it fits? I wonder if I can get my hands on an unlocked iPhone 4
One time I was trying to figure out how to use a Micro SIM in a normal SIM card slot so I could use the Ipad data plan from AT&T on my phone, but just putting it into an adapter and getting it in the phone looked like hell. Took the guy on youtube like 30 minutes (fast timelapse) It'd be much harder if you actually had to cut it up.
If plan on doing anything other than SMS, Facebook, Twitter and email; avoid the BlackBerry. I would check Kijiji or some other classifieds site for good deals on contractless handsets. Most of them have been used on carriers in Canada, so you don't have to worry about being stuck with EDGE because the frequencies are different.
Thanks for the sudjestion :P I've been hunting my phones down like a dog on Kijiji and they range from $400 - $500 for the HD2 I'm going to check the mall this weekend to see how much a brand new one would cost me, I'm not too keen on trusting Kijiji especially if I'm spending this much.
