It's because Alliance has Dwarves, really. If you don't count dwarves I bet the numbers are a lot smaller.
When he used to play this, almost all of my brothers characters were Horde. His synopses at the time was that, at least on the server he was on, the more adult/mature players were Horde, while the Alliance was moreso "kids who HAD to be the "good" guys " .
It was a similar thing when I was playing Anarchy Online: Joint Clans were mostly "kids" who had to stick it to the man. Omni-Tek, the "bad" guy was more so some pretty decent people. Neutral was a mix of the two.
I've always used Hoard characters, I cant get into the Alliance areas.
I've been Horde since I gave up on my first character, a Human Paladin, back in mid-2005. To be honest, I kind of miss the pre-expansion days. i.e.-having to be level 40 to get a mount and it cost 90 gold, which required you to basically sell every bit of junk you picked up.
I don't play WoW but I'm convinced that Horde players are obnoxious.
In my opinion Alliance players are worse. Vanilla wow had all the Alliance stuff finished first, most horde quests at 40+ weren't even done at launch, and they're attunements were much more grand in epic story telling where horde got "Lets find Rexxar" TBC focused heavily on Alliance figures and it wasn't really until Sunwell that Blood elves became pretty important for the last leg of TBC, and even in Wrath Alliance got tons of fanfare more so than horde, then Cata came and Alliance massively whined they Blizzard "Always" favored the horde because Thrall became a piece in the story and because Horde "Conquered" a few zones. I play Alliance and I have to say that most are very very whiny and are quick to backlash at Blizzard because they're spoiled from the onset of WoW.
I remember back on vanilla the Isle of Purgatory off the coast of Hillsbrad, early in vanilla the ghosts there dropped the most silver from a mob ingame that wasn't in an instance. Me and people from my guild would grind there for hours to farm gold it was very common to find chinese gold farmers there early on in vanilla but they later nerfed the silver drop amount to almost nothing.
alliance is best
best starter town (stormwind)
best beginner area (elwynn forest)
Fuck Alliance, for the HORDE!

Sounds like Battlefield Heroes. The Royals were whiny and terrible at the game while Nationals talked a lot of shit but won a lot.

Horde has Troll
Alliance has the best cities
Horde always seemed cooler to me as a non-WoW player. Who wouldn't want to play as a sweet-ass tauren?
Horde has the better racial leaders.
[QUOTE=surfur;43703161]Horde has Troll[/QUOTE]
Why did I never make a Troll Warrior?
It's because of the dorfs.
Horde is best.
We have orcs and Tauren and trolls and undead and goblins.
Fuck blood elves, though.
man i wanna be alliance mainly but every time ive gone alliance i just end up with mongoloids as "friends" so im gonna stay horde a while
Pretty sure Alliance have most players because of their racial, especially PvP servers
I always played Alliance because of the vanilla starting areas.
Alliance:

It's not like the Horde areas are bad but I'll take forest, enchanted forest and snow-covered mountain over desert, dead forest and plains everyday.

emfh hasnt been a huge deal in awhile. the orc racial is more or less equal to it (especially after the on-use trinket changes (longer buff duration in exchange for less stats provided (i.e. humies do less sicknasty burst, yo)))
the last time i checked, the top, like, 100 was actually slanted in horde's favor.
more on point though, I have to agree with the "ally is 4 babby nerds & horde is more mature". It's not really conjecture on my part - yeah, both factions have idiots, but I have 6 characters on each side and horde is a lot more professional about PUGs & shit, while alliance has a spectacular concentration of trade chat heroes and 1750 KFCs crying about the game being too hard
when i first got wow i made a human warrior so i think that might account for a few things, it's the first one on the list and it seems that's what a lot of people pick first
[editline]28th January 2014[/editline]
because i've played alliance for so long, when i did make a horde and got it to 90 i could only stand it for a couple of months before buying a faction change
something about the cities and the races of the alliance just appeals to me more than the horde, that feeling of going to stormwind for the first time. the feeling of making a dwarf and going to ironforge for the first time, stepping through the gate and finding this absolutely huge and beautiful underground city

Alliance wins PvP (primarily at Alterac) because they turtle so fucking much and most Hordies tend to try and kill-farm instead of capture the fucking objective.
The woes of being an orc warrior.
I made a trial account at one point purely to check out the character creation, and ended up doing a short run with the minotaur race. Coincidentally they were the Horde type. Only thought it a bit weird since the background info had them as big nature blokes, but I suppose there's reasons I haven't bothered to explore.

I joined a battleground once with the purpose of fighting a shark.
I like the Horde, but I definitely prefer Alliance. For me it's mainly the cities and races. I've played a Dwarf since '06 and I love him to death.
i always played alliance because horde starting areas left you I'm the barrens, the largest zone in the game with no mount and everything fucking killing you with alliance traffic coming through as well killing things. then when they split the zone they kinda used a little too much TNT and the old zone is essentially one that's blown up and full of plants, the other one has a massive fucking scar and people killing each other endlessly for it
[editline]28th January 2014[/editline]
alliance has better races to be sure that and they have just more aesthetically pleasing stuff, not fucking timber lashed togather with hide roofs
yeah ill agree that alliance has way more aesthetically pleasing stuff and i just prefer their races overall, although id gladly take high elves with them
Orc is the superior race regardless factions

Horde are technically the good guys. They get a bad rep because the orcs were possessed by demons a long time ago. Now it's just the Alliance trying to be noblebright by fucking around with their former enemies and acting like they're still kiddy-raping slaughterbrutes.
Orcs are really spiritual and shit, most Horde races are. The only ones that can really be called evil are Undead and Blood Elves.

I've admittedly got a soft-spot for dorfs.
