Okay so what happens is that the window pops up saying it's starting HL2 for a few seconds, it goes away, then nothing happens. Only the last played date changes. Ideas?
Bump!
We need your PC specs. We can't help you unless you post your Specs.
If you have Xfire, Disable ingame overlay.

...Do you really need my specs if I say it ran fine before? That's probably an important detail. :sweatdrop: I'll get those up if you do.
In all fairness, he wouldn't have asked in the first place if he didn't want the specs. Posting them now would save you time.
Restarting usually solves this problem, but I'm hoping you tried that already.

This has been going on for a while. Anyway, my (sucktastic) specs:
Intel Pentium Dual Core @ 1.73GHz
2GB RAM
Intel GMA X3100
(Trust me, it ran HL2 before)
Anything missing? I just thought these would be most relevant...could moving Steam have done this?
Use "Verify Integrity of Game Cache".
I think I did once, it didn't help. But it can never hurt to try again.

Nothing. Again.
When was the last time you played it? Does it happen with other source games?
And try updating drivers.

I last played it months ago. CS:S, GMod, and Episode 2 start fine, so I'd imagine Episode 1 does too.
Have you tried deleting ClientRegistry.blob in your steam folder?
That usually fixes plenty of things
And if not, try deleting local data and reinstalling

this/\
That didn't seem to do anything. :smithicide:
This died quickly. That only leaves reinstalling...but what could have went wrong!?
