• CPU temp goes up and down very often

Hi, a few days ago i turned up my laptop to use it like always and after 30 minutes i heard the fan spining very loudly, i checked the temp and it was arround ~80° C (sometimes it goes up to 98°C), and after a minute it went back to 45°C (the usual), while the CPU's load was 5% (recently i did some multitasking on the laptop and the load went from 5 to 100, making the laptop very laggy) . I thought it was a trojan mining bitcoins so i wiped the hdd and reinstalled windows 10. This didnt solved it. Next, I told a friend to help me clean it, and after tons of dust out, it still had that problem. Did someone had this happen to them? Did you fixed it? I haven't tried games yet after this happened. specs just in case
Windows 10 Intel Core i7 4510U 8 GB RAM 2047MB NVIDIA GeForce 840M
I see you have cleaned it, good. Have you checked its thermal paste?
I used to have a similar problem and specially in your case I'd recommend re-applying the thermal paste if it's still using factory paste just to see if anything improves.

He may have botched it, it's really easy to mess up applying thermal paste. I have done it accidentally several times. Especially if you pre spread it. Generally I do not spread it anymore, apply a pea sized bit of paste and then tighten the heatsink to naturally spread it. It usually gives me good results. You also need to clean off the old paste with alcohol to make sure the surface is clean and free from contaminants. Generally though, wildly inconsistent temps means the sensor is broken (rare) or your thermal paste is badly applied/old. So you need to check it out.
Yep, 90%+ alcohol and just a dot and let the pressure do the spreading.
I will try to change the paste soon, thanks for the help
Generally though, wildly inconsistent temps means the sensor is broken (rare)
Just for curiosity sake, what if the sensor is broken? it can be fixed, or it's game over for this laptop?

Either that or the motherboard is misreading it (so a BIOS update may fix it). But like I said, its so incredibly rare that its bordering impossible. But I will allow the .01% because anything could happen out of the millions of CPU's shipped every year.
Always set your laptop on a hard surface. On your bed it cannot breathe
On SOME laptops its OK to put it on bed, specially if on Battery Saver, since the components will be at very low temps oskramorir, if you can't use it on a desk, get a big flat wood top (like the one on tables), it'll give it proper airflow
My friend changed the thermal paste both on the cpu and on the gpu nope, when im browsing internet or watch movies i do it on the bed most of the time
When you put your laptop on the bed or other soft surface it cannot get air and the temperature will jump up and cause the fan to start spinning at max. Laptops are not designed to be used on soft surfaces. And it can break the laptop. Putting it on a hard surface like a table should lower the temperature.
