[Insert HBO is unavailable for me argument here]
I buy the GoT Blurays right after they're released so I hope Jaime isn't mad at me :v:
I can't blame people for doing this. Beats being a year behind and living in a constant fear of spoilers.
Yeah I see Red Wedding spoilers and jokes on a daily basis now. Not fun for those waiting/behind.
The fun part of playing Chivalry is that it seems to be a public forum for discussing GoT sometimes, which is appropriate.
I don't watch or have much interest in GoT, but hearing people casually hand out spoilers and then go "omg scrubs why don't you read books ugh step it up" gets a bit tiresome.
Surely this shows a problem with the way they're distributing content, most of these pirates probably come from not America mainly because the show takes too long to broadcast elsewhere, and the DVDs come out way too late.

He said: "The demand is there. And it certainly didn't negatively impact the DVD sales.
They pirate it because it's practically to impossible watch it elsewhere without being subscribed to some channel service.
Fucking poor dumbledore died last episode...
I live in the UK :(
What HBO should start doing is uploading their own torrent for each show they show. As they are the initial seeder they could upload the torrent as the show begins to air, and restrict which chunks are shared to coincide with the broadcast of the show. They could include the same advertisements to keep the advertisers happy. This way they can ensure their content maintains its quality while still including advertising and beat pirates at their own game.

This was considered and not once by the industry I believe.
or just release the fucking thing the same time the torrent groups release and charge like 2-5 bucks, per ep the reason pirating is so popular is cause its so fucking easy. the easier the better limited it to like 4 clicks and bam your watching GoT. people would pay for the convenience.

also disagreed because ads are horse shit id pay not to see them.
We don't even get it on TV in Australia, unless you have paid TV. I'm not paying for a single show.
The only option is to buy the DVD which was what? 6+ months later? Fuck that.
You have to pay £65.75/month to watch it legally in the UK before the DVD's come out. That's why its pirated so much.

I can't watch TV since I don't have it, and netflix don't have it, so for me I can only pirate it or buy the bluray, and since I never pirate, or bluray... I just shrug it off and watch star trek or something instead
pirating is bad and I'm not paying money for something I'm going to watch once.
I'm not paying $40 a month to watch two shows on a channel.
I pirate because there has never been any negative consequences for doing so.
Why would I pay for a channel sub when I can get the shows for free let's be honest.
I know a lot of people who would watch Game of Thrones if you could just subscribe to just the show rather than HBO as a whole. One dollar per episode would generate them more money than what they currently are doing.

Or they should get with the times and start doing pay for digitial distribution, because the only legal ways you can get it (and onlyone of them is when the show airs) is either be an american and have cable and HBO, or buy the DVD's a full year later, seriously, if they sold the episodes, for say $5 per episode, or a season pass slightly cheaper or something they'd make a shit load of money.

Yes, I believe that's the point. You give them money. You get entertainment.
