• Quick question regarding hard drive and operating system

I apologise in advance if this is horribly technologically illiterate, but if I were to get a completely new computer, would it be possible to transfer my operating system onto the newer hard drive to avoid the cost of purchasing the OS again? Thanks in advance.
You should be able to just put your hardrive in the new PC. A couple things might act up cause of left over drivers and other hardware related things, but Win7 is really good at sorting things out.
So long as you still have the key you can just reinstall it without buying the OS again.

There's imaging tools that can do it, but I'm not sure how happy Windows will be. Is this an OEM computer? If so, it might be "hardware locked" and not like being put into a new computer.

There's a program that allows you to view the Windows key. Just use that and write it down.
