Hello friends, I think that it would be a cool idea to have people write their plans for 2013, musically of course. You can also add any other non-musical goals you have in life with a short plan of action so that you cna have a goal to achieve, and the necessary plans to achieve this goal. In short, write your new years resolution in this thread, and write how you plan to achieve this goal, and also minor goals along the road to "The Big One" I will keep this post edited with everyones plan and hopefully we can get this one plastered to the top of the forum like the rules thread, so people can constantly check in and tell us how they're doing! So, what are your plans for 2013? What will you achieve this year? Glitchman Get featured in indie games (preferably high-selling ones!) healthpoint Really finish a track and release it on a label. Schmoe222 Work on individual skill to be able to perform a few select songs, really work on composition to make a 25 minute song and get a PZ album released. Get into the conservatory (university?) of his choice. Bytecry Finish two tracks, and refine his own sound to make it sound more profesional. bull04 Work on getting the attentions from labels, work on getting his work on sounding more profesional and also getting his music played out there (local radio stations etc). T.F.W.O. Find the holy helix sound, and release a mini album. Dead Madman Find a new label, buy real studio monitors, continue rigorious work schedule and finally get to play live. Buy FL Studio. Speedfalcon Play a live gig, get signed and get a couple of decent studio monitors. CLungcancer Make shit, get paid Croix Make an EP with hip hop instrumentals, get hip hop tracks into a game. deggie Make an EP with post-rock music, and learn how to properly master. Also, get an Axe FX II. Eyefunk Finish his/her experimental album by the end of 2013. Cronos Dage Earn money for art. MenteR Release a debut album and make a video for the song"Thrashing Beast Of Metal" for his band Polaris, and do shitloads of gigs everywhere. IplayAspy Get to be as good as a near profesional master-engineer, releasing an EP or two. kraed Practice the saxophone as much as he can, get serious about music production and never give up, make an EP and attract listeners. ExEcuteFox Finish his art, and getting studio monitors. LieutenantLeo Upload videos of acoustic covers, gain following. tlsaudrl2548 Getting his music into a friend's game for real! BigSmokeDawg Release a follow-up album to his last one last year, make it better in each and every way. Also, attract singer. socks Make some progress on synth DIY project, release a small album and improve mixing/mastering skills. HazeFyer23 Get hardware (midi controller&monitors), manuals and mixing techniques. Make one full, nicely mixed track. Darkslicer Release a second EP with his solo project, soothing vocals and even sadder instrumentalisation. Find a bassist for his band and write an EP. Banned? Work on his practice regime.
Really would like music by me featured in more Indie Games... preferably ones that sell quite a bit! Been making a lot of tracks made to fit into games... www.soundcloud.com/breakfastbuddy
Finally finish and release a track. I've been working on two tracks for the past month now. My only goal is to not drop them and start over again (like I always do) and get them released on an E-label.
Would like to get various pieces up to performance level, but with focus on Liszt's Un Sospiro, Mozart's Sonata No. 17, and Copland's Piano Variations. (Accomplished with: A ton of practice) As far as composition, I'd like to complete writing my wind quintet, bringing it to 25 minutes. Also, gotta finish up an orchestration of my four-hands piece for a local symphony orchestra and get the PZ album released. If I have the time I'd like to finish writing both my piano quartet and piano trio. (Accomplished with: A ton of writing) My biggest goal of this coming year, though, is to transfer into the conservatory of my choice. (Accomplished with: Luck and a good interview) Fuck me that's a lot to do.
I'm going to work on my 2 progressive house tracks and try to finish them after some exams. I'm also going to try to refine my sound and try making my tracks sound more professional.
Start trying harder to get attention from labels is one of mine. I'm going to focus really hard on refining some of my sounds and doing synth work for a while so I can get professional sounding things from my music. I'd also like to get my stuff played on a local radio station or such. Start getting it featured and played at as many places as I can.
Find the 'Holy Helix' sound, and release a mini album.
Liking all the goals you guys have set up! I've got a few goals set up myself; Make more music This one is pretty straight forward, I aim to continue making a whole lot of music, both myself and with other people. I strive to do this by making a new track (vocals and instruments) every week, and I hope to continue making this a reality through the whole year. So essenitally, I'm going to make 52 tracks that I am pleased with this year, and I'm going to accomplish this by just making a whole lot of music. Get a few songs released How am I going to accomplish this? I've got a few songs that I'm currently working on that I'm going to releasei on spotify by paying myself, but I'm also going to try and grab the attention of labels so that I can further my own career, and hopefully make a living out of making music. Play more music live Also pretty straightforward, I'm going to just play a whole lot more music live with my friends
Learn to find a label that doesn't totally suck ass when it comes to promo when my current contract ends srsly I fucking regret signing to collective so bad I wish I could go back in time and unfuck my self :C Buy some fucking monitors I got KRK headphones but I guess some monitors would be better Continue to work my ass off yup, my 7~ hours a day routine should still get my music sounding better eventually Lose my live performance virginity I wish I could perform some of my tracks to a crowd of people someday....
Play a set at a club Pretty close to accomplishing this one, I might be able to get a set soon.. Get a track signed No idea whether or not that's going to happen, but hopefully! Buy some fucking monitors I also got KRK headphones and i'm pretty sure some monitors would be better
Dunno, I'll just make shit and see what happens
Make a small album with short hip hop instrumentals. Manage to convince someone hip hop is a good genre for soundtracks and and that they should let me make one for their game/movie.
Release my own post-rock EP. Learn how to properly master. Also, buy an Axe FX II.
Liking your goals, let this be the year it all works out for us!
Finish my experimental album by the end of 2013.
earn money for art
release the debut album for my band Polaris "Cold Blooded Justice", make a videoclip for "Thrashing Beast of Metal" and do a shitload of gigs.
I want to be be able to reach near professional level mastering, along with releasing an EP or two.
Practice sax as never before, crush those method books and jam as much as i can! It really is a dream of mine to have a jam band with jazz, blues and all that stuff. Get serious about my music producing, be able to keep at it without giving up. Make an EP as well as gaining listeners! Best of wishes and vibes to everyone this year, let's make it a rocking one!
Finish things Get studio monitors
start putting up some acoustic youtube covers or something, get noticed
Getting my track into my friend's game for real! because he refused my last offer.
Release at least 1 album to follow up my first one I did last year. It's gotta be better in every way possible, and maybe have vocals if I can find someone to do them for me :)
Make some more progress on my synth diy project, release a little album, and improve mastering/mixing
Get some hardware, or a midi controller and monitors at least and to read more on sound synthesis, VST manuals, and various mixing techniques. By the end of this year I want to produce a full, nicely mixed track
1 track away from finishing the Ep...that was quicker than i thought xD

My Solo Artist (Caynug) goal for this year: Release my 2nd EP with some sooth vocals and even more sad guitar/drums/bass music. My bands (Chubsnug) goal for this year: Find a bassist and write our EP (Metal with rap vocals and groove 8 string riffs) Very nice thread, it's quite nice to see that people take their time and work on such a beautiful thing as music! I wish my family did care more about that... my brothers have no talent and never learned anything and they never will feel the joy of hearing your finished song/material or the joy of playing and learning an instrument. Thanks.
