I'm just surprised they got that cinematic out in a month. Anyway optimistic about their work.
I'm excited. The change in formula might be good for it. [sp]Or it might be the scourge of gaming, but I'm trying to be optimistic.[/sp]
I really wish my disc of Battlefront 2 worked on my PS2. I really should get a Steam copy.
I really wish my disc of Battlefront 2 worked on my PS2. I really should get a Steam copy.
I have it on PC and PSP. The PSP one is a crazy underrated port, almost 1:1
sounds good, DICE make good shit
I don't like the sound of that. What battlefront should be is like battlefront 2 with improved mechanics, updated graphics, and seamless space to ground fighting, it should NOT be battlefield 3 with a star wars skin. I don't want to judge too much on something before they even show us any game play, but if i'm harsh it's only because i care about battlefront.
Dice isn't same as it was 5 years ago. Not sure if they will handle this right.
I'm just surprised they got that cinematic out in a month. Anyway optimistic about their work.
Only lasted for 30 seconds anyway.
To be honest I wouldn't mind if it was just a star wars battlefield. Just as long as it is done well.
Dice isn't same as it was 5 years ago. Not sure if they will handle this right.
I don't know what "isn't the same" means exactly but they still make good games.
I don't know what "isn't the same" means exactly but they still make good games.
I believe the branch of DICE that made Medal of Honor: Warfighter is the same one working on this game. Although I could be wrong. Yep, I was wrong.
It better have bots and instant action.
I believe the branch of DICE that made Medal of Honor: Warfighter is the same one working on this game. Although I could be wrong.
That branch was closed down. DICE's main branch (the one behind the Battlefield series) is the one working on Battlefront.
I hope they don't turn it into an FPS primarily, I know BF2 had a mode where you could do that but it's core gameplay was in the 3rd perspective, and that's what scares me. Like the article says this isn't going to be a proper sequel to Battlefront, it's not 3, it really is a whole new game.
I believe the branch of DICE that made Medal of Honor: Warfighter is the same one working on this game. Although I could be wrong.
That was a rumor. The full story is that Danger Close, the internal EA studio that made Warfighter was shut down and personel folded into the DICE Los Angeles branch which will be maintaining premium services and DLC for DICE Sweden games. Consequently this means that the executive producer of BF3 and BF4 (And the Bad Company games? Don't know for sure) will be the producer for Battlefront. Obviously Battlefront was always seen as a sort of Star Wars rendition of that so they should be similar in terms of overall gameplay.
That branch was closed down. DICE's main branch (the one behind the Battlefield series) is the one working on Battlefront.
Nope, they just renamed the studio into "DICE Los Angeles", which is developing the game AFAIK.
No, DICE Stockholm is developing http://www.egmnow.com/articles/news/battlefield-devs-working-on-star-wars-battlefront-at-dice-stockholm/

"but DICE wants to put its own flavour on it." day 1 dlc?
I don't know what "isn't the same" means exactly but they still make good games.
The transition from deep gameplay mechanics, humor, and mod-friendliness of Battlefield 2 to the general, mainstream, battlelog-ridden Battlefield 3. Battlefield 3 isn't really a bad game, but Dice have taken steps back except in graphics.

I feel like BF2 and 2142 may have been deeper than the console-centric Bad Company titles but BF3 brought a lot of that back with 64 players, suppression, and way more tools for each class to use. I don't think BF3 is deeper than BF2 or vice versa, just the depth is shuffled around. Either way BF4 looks to have more content, especially with the commander mode making a return and larger scale destruction and water combat. I didn't find anything particularly humorous about Battefield 2 and the mod tools conversation has been done to death. It'd be nice to see but they are absolutely under no obligation to release their source code.
So long as it has space to land transitions, I'll be happy.

Ever since the first one I've wanted a bit more battlefield taste to it, a better sense of scale and being the soldier. Maybe my memory of battlefront is a bit skewed but it felt lacking in connecting you to the experience, but I remember it not having the same oomph I got from BF2 at the time
Please be third person still Please allow me to be a jedi/sith If I do well Please let me use cables to take down AT-ATs on hoth again Please dont add any of the XxX~"extended universe"~XxX bullshit Please dont add any weapon attachments
To be honest I wouldn't mind if it was just a star wars battlefield. Just as long as it is done well.
At long as it has third person, Heroes, things look similar to Battlefront (as in capture points and stuff) and it has Space battles i will be quite happy. I don't like the idea of micro-transactions but they aren't that big of an issue, really.
Please have a Mos Eisley battle royale between both faction's heroes. Interrupting Jedi and Sith fights with a guided wookie missile was the best thing.

On an objective level, what is wrong with them?
BF1 and 2 were already loaded with EU stuff, I don't see why this would be any different. Attachments wouldn't bother me at all. I hope they actually do away with the hero units or if they keep them, flesh them out more so that they actually take skill to use.
Yeah, I personally like the idea of attachments, they let you use a weapon you like, and further adapt it to your playstyle. Still I wonder if they'll put in a full campaign, and not just that disjointed skirmish with objectives things that the first two did. They better keep the galactic conquest mode though, that was so fun with friends.
