Out of all their games, I wonder why Call of Juarez: The Cartel isn't effected by it.
Man, this really puts in into perspective - why do they still use this terrible DRM system?
Hopefully steam doesn't move any servers.

They have. Recently too I think. But they set up the new servers before they shut down the old ones.

I don't have any idea about server migration, so can anyone tell me why it's such a big deal?
In my little dream world you set up your new stack of servers, synch their HDD content with that of the old servers and then have a relatively short downtime during which you tell some master system the new directories and variables so everything plays together nicely.
Even if UbiSoft didn't buy new servers and only swapped out some cables they should have backup servers ready in case some servers are spontaneously abducted by aliens or something, right?

Yeah dude, But that involves like effort n shit man....
Like.. erg why would we put effort into our service its not like we really care
Ubisoft already has everyone's money, they don't care
Terrible company, even worse than Activision
How about, Ubisoft, you take this opportunity to just shut the DRM servers down for good and send out patches that remove the need for them from all the games that contact them?
My friend and I wanted to play Driver today, but NOPE. Ubi, seriously what the fuck, stop dicking about. If I, a paying customer, can't play my game when I want it because of your worthless piece of shit DRM, then you need to fucking change your shit.
I'm glad all the Ubi games I own are from before someone came up with this retarded DRM.
DRM is the future, today!

What a surprise.
Couldn't they just use a much less powerful server as a temporary backup? It would be slower but at least games would still work. You don't really have to be a genius to think of that

But you do have to be sane.
