What Trump also wants, Scaramucci continued, is energy independence for the U.S., which would allow the country’s “geopolitical footprint” to change, altering national security and the use of the military.
Scaramucci suggested that climate change and humans’ impact on it remains an open question within the scientific community but was corrected by anchor Chris Cuomo, who pointed out that it is the “overwhelming consensus” of climate scientists that human activity is warming the planet. Scaramucci contended that “we did a lot of things wrong in the scientific community,” comparing researched climate change findings to the centuries-old belief that the world was flat.
“Of course it's a genuine commitment to clean air and clean water, Chris, whether you accept the science or not,” Scaramucci said. “It's better for the United States and better for the world to have the U.S. be energy independent. Have us have clean air and clean water and protect the environment for future generations of Americans. All of that makes sense.”

There are flatearthers all around the globe, you know.
Not just a blunder of science understanding but a blunder of historical understanding as well.
this is giving me a fucking aneurysm
not good considering my uncle died from cerebral hemorrhaging and grandma died from aneurysm related complications albeit over a decade later
i don't think the two are compatible. it takes a special kind of retard to think the earth is flat.
Every headline makes that prediction that the US will stop being a world power soon more relevant.
Why do I imagine working as a scientific advisor feels like operating the world's most inefficient paper shredder
fake news?
[editline]1[/editline]
guess not
With all this Trump/Trump related news you kind of get desensitised to it all you know.
How in the hell do you compare actual scientific findings, proof, and statistics to hearsay with no factual evidence? Climate Change actually has evidence and proof you can't deny, and isn't just hearsay like the flat earth movement is.
Humans have known that the earth is round for a looong time. Shit, Eratosthenes made a relatively accurate measurement of its radius using only two sticks and a camel.
This guy should stop confusing the belief of a few morons with the historical scientific consensus.
Scholars have know that the Earth was not flat since the times of Ancient motherfucking Greece

We should feel blessed to be led under our great God-Emperor Trump! :hammered:

I see what you did there, you sneaky bastard.
If you don't believe in global warming .. then look at the graph on Wiki.

Politicians are spreading misinformation (prop' oil-money) and the media seems to be as useless on the matter. Seems like they're trying to re-rail the topic now.
What a fucking trainwreck.
This is so fucking awesome. I don't think I've ever seen a level of upset this big.

What on earth are you talking about

The guy is absolutely insane. This really feels like satire.
Anyone who uses the "we used to believe the Earth was flat" thing to try and disprove modern science needs to be forced to attend middle school and high school again.
We used to think that the Earth was flat. But then, using very basic science, we discovered it was round.
We used to think that the sun orbited the Earth. But then, using science, we discovered the Earth orbited the sun.
We used to think that illnesses were caused by demons. But then, using science, we discovered bacteria and viruses.
We used to think species popped out of nowhere or always stayed the same. But then, using science, we discovered evolution.
We used to think we could pump whatever shit we wanted into the atmosphere. But then, using science, we discovered climate change.

We didn't even used to think that the earth was flat though. Some random bloke stuck it in a novel about Columbus iirc but it was actually common knowledge that the earth was round at the time. Captains weren't afraid of falling off the earth, they would've known best that it was round because they can see it most easily.

Yeah, they actually discovered it in ancient Greece.
That still means that they discovered it using science at some point.
Even if that science was just sticking two sticks in the ground and measuring their shadows.

He was trying to sail to India and the reason why nobody tried before in his time was because of the unknown width of the Atlantic. Most educated people knew that it was possible to reach the far east by going west but they also knew that they could only store a few months worth of supplies on ships as well.
Humans have always been making rational decisions based on information known at the time. Having people in power refute evidence of the world changing around them in order to continue exploiting the existing system for their own personal gain has also always been a thing. Such stubbornness, however, prevents them from making sacrifices to adapt to changing situations and always ends in destruction.

Yeah and that argument is what the guy was actually saying tbf, not that climate science is equal to flat earth theories:
"There was overwhelming science that the earth was flat and there was an overwhelming science that we were the center of the world," Scaramucci added. "We get a lot of things wrong in the scientific community."
If I had to guess I'd say they know renewable energy is better but they want to be able to ride the fossil fuel train until it's not as profitable.

Except it's horribly, horribly wrong
There was never overwhelming science that the earth was flat. There was never any science that said the earth was flat. For fucks sake, we've known the earth was round for as long as the very concept of science has existed.
i don't think the two are compatible. it takes a special kind of retard to think the earth is flat.
It's a fair point to make that we still do not fully understand climate change and it's mechanisms, just as back then we did not fully understand how the world worked, or our place in the universe. However, it has been shown beyond a reasonable doubt that humans do have an effect on our climate.

i would rather have had a gradual, graceful decline than what we're getting: a high speed trainwreck
