Switching to HDMI, simple right? Put a cable in, change settings, done. But obviously not, am i missing something out? i just cant seem to get HDMI to work on my virigin HD V+ box, tv is 1080p and so is the box, just comes up no video signal, what the shit?
edit:
Hmmm, maybe i worded it wrong, i'm not looking for a converter, just switching from scart to hdmi, through the hdmi port on my box, and my tv
HDMI = Digital
SCART = Analog
You'd need some expensive converter hardware.

Don't tell me you want 1080p quality over scart, s-video should do.
I don't really understand your problem either, do you have hdmi input on the tv but dont get any signal?
I think he means he has used scart so far and now he has hdmi but can't get it working. O_o

Yes, pretty much. I have the hdmi cable plugged into the hdmi port on my virigin box, and plugged into my the hdmi port to my tv, but no signal
Sure you got input and output correct and got the correct hdmi channel? Perhaps it's a setting on the box.

Its on the correct channel, and when it did work, there were settings to change it to hd, so i changed it to HD-HDMI 1080p wide and from there on there hasn't been a video signal
Switch it to 720p.
Some tvs equipped with multiple inputs require activation of the input in question. Our panasonic plasma has a tiny hardware switch to do the trick (input n2 is scart, n3 hdmi and I have to choose between them).
Could this be the case?
Nothing is working, i read up that both scart and hdmi cables have to be in, and i get a picture though scart, but i cant access the menus because NOTHING is working at all on the box

Might have to resort to a VM "engineer" to do it for us, i really have no fucking clue with tvs
Deconnect SCART, connect HDMI.
Reboot the machine while the TV is on the HDMI's channel
It should autodetect the connection to the TV, and should start broadcasting through HDMI.

The tv auto detects HDMI-1 which its plugged into, but just says "No video signal"
you must select hdmi input
most tv's have a menu called "input"

Are you stupid? He is on the HDMI channel.
Well something apparently happened in my area which is always the excuse so thats why there are no menu's and it looks a lot better now, must be on HD now, looks a lot sharper and more vibrant colours

which would be a converter

wait i think i understand now
so, the source box has a SCART output and an HDMI output, right? if yes let's move on - the TV has an HDMI input, and you already have an HDMI chord going from the box to the TV, correct? but it's not "working" so to speak?
I think the problem lies within the device and its settings, not the TV. with both SCART and HDMI connected (if possible), on the very same TV with SCART (or another tv if necessary) go into the settings menu for the box and set it to HDMI.
with some devices, PS3 for example, if you have it set up to use when output, simply changing the cables to use the other output won't do it. you have to actually set the output beforehand, or at least, again with the PS3, reset the settings somehow.

I don't know why, in this day and age, things are still like this, but they are. You'd think common consumer electronics like video game consoles, DVD/BD players, and cable boxes would be far more plug and play by now, but they're not.
I know a guy who had his 360 hooked up to his 1080p LCD and said even the menu didn't look better, so I came over and said "uh you don't have it set up for HD at all" "what do you mean i flipped the switch to HDTV and i'm using the red green and blue things" "yeah ok but you still have to set it in the menu"
