McGregor will play the two central characters — brothers Emmit and Ray Stussy — in the upcoming third season, which is supposed to be set closer to present day than the first two installments. Emmit Stussy is the Parking Lot King of Minnesota. A handsome, self-made, real estate mogul and family man, Emmit sees himself as an American success story. His slightly younger brother, Ray Stussy, on the other hand is more of a cautionary tale. Balding, pot-bellied, Ray is the kind of guy who peaked in high school. Now a parole officer, Ray has a huge chip on his shoulder about the hand he’s been dealt, and he blames his brother, Emmit, for his misfortunes. McGregor is the first actor cast in the third installment of Fargo, which is tentatively scheduled to begin production later this year for premiere on FX in 2017.
[Source: Deadline]
I guess he liked being both Satan and Jesus in that one movie. Incidentally, how was Season Two of Fargo? I loved the first season, but I stopped getting FX before the second one aired and I never got around to watching it.

He seems to have a knack for playing two characters in the same movies, between The Island and that other film.
I find it odd to describe the upcoming season as "closer to the present" considering season 1 was basically present day, set in 2006.

I love Ewan McGregor, I certainly hope it's not as bad as season 2 was now.
Are you kidding season 2 was absolutely top tv
I don't think I can put into words how stupid the finale was.
I am in LOVE with this casting choice and the character descriptions. Even if the season is absolute trash, he's still good enough to make it watchable. But fuck. Fargo season 2 was easily the best season of TV I've ever seen. Don't understand the furor over the [sp]aliens[/sp]. I fucking loved them, and I loved every part of it. No complaints at all.
I don't think I can put into words how stupid the finale was.
It kind of was supposed to be.
This already sounds amazing
"Parking Lot King" sounds just perfect for Fargo. There better be a rehash of this line:
I don't think I can put into words how stupid the finale was.
If you think the thing with the [sp] UFO [/sp] was stupid you obviously weren't paying attention to everything that was going on up to that point.
I loved Season 1 and 2 of Fargo. some of the best TV in the past few years
If you think the thing with the [sp] UFO [/sp] was stupid you obviously weren't paying attention to everything that was going on up to that point.
I was referring more to [sp]Hanzee[/sp].
I was referring more to [sp]Hanzee[/sp].
What was stupid about that?
I loved S2 But it's ultimately let down by the final episode, i still have no idea what to make ot it espeically once you get to episode 9 [sp] And see that Aliens are real and that a UFO pretty much started the entire chain of events by accident, well not entirely but it plays a pretty major role.[/sp] But yeah i'm eager to see where it goes in S3, [del]i'm gonna assume that Ewan is gonna be doing a Tom Hardy ala Legend.[/del] Says exactly that in the op.
The climax was the second to last episode, the last episode was just wrap up. There was nothing disappointing about it.
[sp] Hanzee's transformation from a middle aged native to a still middle aged, balding, obese white dude 30 years later was beyond awful. Dumb attempt to link the seasons. Great season otherwise. [/sp]
